The Guiltless pResident

If you don’t want to appear guilty, it would seem obvious that step one would be to stop acting like you’re guilty.

I’m not sure what it is about this concept that totally escapes Trump and his cohorts.

Since the first hint that Russia interfered in our election process and that Trump & Co. was involved, there has been nothing – literally nothing – that Trump and his administration haven’t done to make themselves look as guilty as sin.

They have obfuscated, obstructed, distracted, and dismissed out-of-hand. Are they too stupid to recognize that their own actions continue to point in the direction of guilt? (By the way, that’s a rhetorical question, because their own stupidity is on display on a daily basis.)

A guiltless pResident says look at whatever you want to look at – I have nothing to hide.

A guiltless pResident would want to clear his name by getting to the bottom of how a foreign power interfered in our election process – especially after calling that process “sacred”

A guiltless pResident would never try to “change the subject” by accusing his predecessor of wire-tapping him without any evidence to back up the allegation.

A guiltless pResident would not refer to media coverage of facts as “fake news”, nor would he continually cast the intelligence community as incompetent.

A guiltless pResident would not hide from the truth – he would welcome it.

The cohorts of a guiltless pResident would not be doing everything in their power to undermine an investigation into his possible collusion with Russia in order to be elected. On the contrary; those who support him would be anxious to dig as deeply as possible in order to put to rest, once and for all, any hint that he was involved in any nefarious goings on.

The cohorts of a guiltless pResident would adamantly insist that no stone be left unturned in any investigation into his actions and behaviour that would tend to clear his name.

The cohorts of a guiltless pResident would never, under any circumstances, obstruct an investigation that could prove his innocence – unless they already know he’s guilty.

I repeat: There is literally nothing that Trump and his administration haven’t done to make themselves look as guilty as sin. And one is left to wonder just where this kind of stupidity leads, if not to the obvious conclusion that guilt is a foregone conclusion.

It's so glaringly obvious that they are guilty. The way they react to every accusation screams GUILTY!

Of course that would require a guiltless congress, guiltless intelligence, and guiltless DOJ wouldn't it?
