Does anyone know why I can't use my pictures or post any internet pictures in my message.. I can't seem to use a personal pic for the avatar either.

You get to be a star member by donating $to the site. If you click on "My Account" at the upper right, you will see a tab for "Star Membership" that will tell you how to contribute.

The Photography Group has a pinned thread on How to post photos to DU.
