Followed by a few minutes back and forth between him and Blitzer on exactly why what he said was wrong.

I despise Spicer and all that his colleagues stand for , but that was the right thing to do.

The right thing to do would be to resign. They say too much of this shit and then halfheartedly take it back later. When does their antisemitism and racism become a pattern and not a slip of the tongue?

Without having to resign, it lowers the bar. If all you have to do is go on TV and apologize for making abhorrent comments, what's to stop it from being repeated?

Brains to apologize. He still has to go, however. What little credibility he had is in the negative at this point. He either believed what he said or has no grasp of history. Regardless, this is a fatal error. Either way, he has shown himself to be unqualified for his position.

The media would be slightly outraged but chock it up to 'there he goes twitting nonsense again' and would have moved on fairly quickly. But Spicer should be fired while Trump would get away with it because we have normalized Trump's outrages

This is a line White Supremacists have been using for decades. That the Holocaust didn't happen because if Hitler had all this gas he would have used it on the front lines.

They don't know the difference between Zyklon B and Chlorine gas or other battlefield gasses? They don't understand that the gas used in the chambers at Auschwitz and elsewhere COULDN'T have been used on the battlefield?

What towering intellects we see on the "Alt right."

He needs to go. There is no apology that is appropriate for this. The only acceptable result here is Spicer's resignation.
