Sarah Kliff: House Republicans are hurtling toward a vote on a bill that is disliked by most Americans, opposed by nearly every major health care group, and not yet scored by the Congressional Budget Office.
This is an unusual situation, and a puzzling one. Republicans are on the verge of voting for a health care bill without knowing how many people it covers or how much it would cost. They risk setting themselves up for embarrassment when the numbers actually do come out and dont look good.

Now, it is possible with their desire to kill poor people becoming clearer and clearer that we might see movement toward single payer soon.
Anything less is torture of all non rich Americans.

(82,849 posts)Nobody who votes on this bill, for or against, will have had a chance to read it ahead of time. Wasn't that one of the animating features of the Tea Baggers? Is anyone asking the Tea Baggers about Congress' failure to read legislation before they vote on it? Why haven't they taken to the streets? Where are the chartered buses and the professionally-made signs that all of the Tea Baggers totally paid for themselves taking this to the street?

(790 posts)I heard it only needs 50 Plus Pence? I read previously that it is up to the parlimentarian to judge if it can be part of budget with just 51 needed or needs 60.
