Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsIs there a difference in how to use the terms "bullshit" and "horseshit"?
I was listening to the radio today and called something someone said "horseshit" instead of the usual "bullshit" and it sounded almost humorous.

(733 posts)And then there is arbitrary vindictive chickenshit (AVC) which used for actions that deflect responsibility from actor to someone else. Example: "We relied on Obama's vetting of Michael Flynn, so they are responsible for missing his Russian connections.
Horseshit: Signing a bill that says it provides coverage for pre-existing conditions when it doesn"t.
Bullshit: Most any boasting of non-existent accomplishments.

The usage explanations are spot on.

(52,227 posts)donnie's boasting about record attendance where there are visibly empty seats is bullshit.
these are simple facts that are verifiable or refutable. not necessarily at the time and by the intended audience, but eventually bullshit can be readily proven to be bullshit.
horseshit is more about ideas or worldviews that aren't necessarily demonstrably right or wrong in a factual sense, but which are nevertheless unworkable or offensive.
so the idea that morality can only come from religion is horseshit as many non-religious people are quite moral beings.
the idea that government helping the poor is a quick part to government jackbooted thugs taking away all your rights is horseshit.
much of donnie's rhetoric is bullshit.
much of republican philosophy is horseshit.
and, to a post above, many republican politicians are chickenshit.
so they've got the entire shitshow covered.

(13,340 posts)Bullshit is simply a falsehood, usually with intent to persuade. For me, horseshit is an assertion so outrageous that it almost makes me laugh.

(17,984 posts)The other can only be used as a noun.
Bullshit (n) Bullshitting (v) -- interesting that it can be both transitive and intransitive.
Horseshit (n). Have you ever heard of anyone trying to use "horseshitting"? It's simply not done.
Chickenshit (adj).

(11,949 posts)Horseshit is more of a descriptor.
'this dumbass republican was telling me who great their new health plan was and I called Bullshit'
'the republican healthcare plan is horseshit'
The most devastating of all, at least to a farm kind of guy is chicken shit. Bullshit and horseshit really do not smell all that bad being just composted grass and all. Chicken shit however, is vile and disgusting. Plus, domesticated chickens are about the dumbest animals ever bred. That is why Chickenshit should be reserved for a persons actions.
'my boss demands that I mop the floors before I clock in. That is just chickenshit'.
Now you have a liberal rednecks take on the difference.
