How many of you or your loved ones have, a serious preexisting condition?

I was diagnosed with breast cancer 5 1/2 years ago and live in a red state. Although our insurance, through a state university, has been constant for 25 years, I really fear what draconian health care changes might happen here. Husband tells me not to worry, but we've seen these dirt bags in action, and they could care less about how many people lose health care or go bankrupt just trying to stay alive.

And two of my kids had Hodgkin's lymphoma as children. Until my cancer diagnosis, I had what we thought was Carpal Tunnel, but we now know as thoracic outlet syndrome.

While we are on Medicare and carry supplemental coverage, I can see the writing on the wall. If their current plan goes through (and maybe even if it doesn't) I have no doubt Medicare will be on the chopping block next.

Nobody is safe from these assholes. Medical issues pop up continuously, so anybody's status could change at any time.

My sister is terrified that she will lose all Medicaid funded services that make the sweet child's life livable. Work insurance doesn't cover what she needs and her parents have fought hard to get her qualified to have her needs met. We live in Kentucky, so the chances of still being in the program they are in are very slim since Bevin is a 'Bagger and HATES all but the rich. Growth in this state has also gone straight to hell since he became Gov, (he spent over a year trying to screw higher ed as much as possible, so all those jobs he promised didn't matter so much) so the state will be cutting back on any help to human beings anyway.

These are soulless people. I despise them all.

I just got finished reading the "Handmaiden's tale", so I guess children with disabilities are just "shredders".

Both of us do. And i'm 610 days from retiring. She's already Medicare eligible (SSDI), but i won't be even when i retire. So, i'm calling in to stop this nonsense, even though my rep is a moron who wouldn't understand the bill if someone read it to him.

Both my husband and I have pre-existing conditions as do my daughters and other immediate family members.

All of us also had genetic predispositions, were caused by accidents or environmental conditions or pulled a 'shit happens' card that they had zero control over. Everyone of us were either born with it or had lived normal healthy active lives before getting nailed.

Hubby and I are on Medicare, which by design is FOR people with pre-existing conditions through disability or age, but I'm wondering if our rates are going to increase too if Trumpcare passes.

Which can lead to other illnesses. Wouldn't everyone have some sort of pre existing condition? High blood pressure as well.....

It means any condition. Before Obamacare, individual insurance policies refused to pay on the preexisting ploy if you had ever had anything.

Insurance companies will scrutinize your application, and if you had an ingrown toenail removed 20 years ago, and forgot to include that fact...ooooopppppsssss...pre-existing condition!

... and very expensive illness.

She was then put on a waiting list for our state's "high risk" subsidized insurance pool.

Fortunately she got the insurance before her continuity of care was dangerously interrupted, but it was a terrifying experience.

We've never really recovered financially. From then on it's been one damned thing after another, for both of us.

People always think they have "good" and adequate health insurance until they need it for something big.

The biggest self-righteous assholes in the world think shit can't happen to them because they take care of themselves and God loves them or something.

The truth is that shit can fall out of the sky and hit anyone, everything from a cosmic ray turning a single cell into an aggressive cancer, a drunk driver, or an accident of birth...

That's why civilized nations make certain everyone has access to appropriate medical, and they do it in various ways, everything from single payer plans to a national health care service.

The U.S.A. is not a civilized nation.

I know it's wrong, but I'll fucking laugh at the medical misfortunes of anyone who votes to roll back ObamaCare, and I'll picture them roasting in hell when they're dead, forever assaulted by demons with flaming pricks.

My family seems to have more than our fair share of knee injuries/surgeries/replacements. It could have to do with the fact that we are all skiers and/or involved in sports that are hard on the knee, but would that be considered "pre-existing"?

right now manageable through medication. Diagnosed three years ago - stem cell transplant and now on ridiculously expensive drugs. We would have exhausted annual and lifetime caps by now. Thank goodness for being on Medicare. He may, hopefully live years and years -- on treatment. If Medicare disappears we are bankrupt. If we were younger and diagnosed under this form of bill, we would be bankrupt and then my husband would die.

It affects everyone which is why I want Dems to focus on the moral/financial advantages to single-payer. It is he only solution which every other country has already figured out. When Dems talk about people getting kicked off insurance, voters listen and say "that's not me. They are poor, lazy, undeserving". Dems need to focus on this affecting every person at some point in their lives. Not just infants, or elderly or poor. It is simply the moral thing for a country to do. Give healthCARE to all, no matter what their income is. No teacher, social worker, fast food worker, truck driver - deserves lesser healthcare than a hedge fund manager or CEO.

Sorry - rant - but this issue is MY issue. Hits too close to home.
