We are about to experience a reset. The ride will be bumpy but I'm starting to believe that truth and light will win over darkness and evil.

(297,805 posts)seeing this incompatant person in the WH, entertaining Russians. No journalists were allowed. Where was Ivanka, making her business contacts with the Russians? These two must not be too high on the Russian food chain, since they are soiling the WH not the Florida golden palace.

(6,916 posts)I worry that the president* needed a face to face with the Russians in the White house yesterday to plan something.
Expect at least some sort of hacking event. And let's hope it's only that.

(54,448 posts)The ones that scare me are the ones who wouldn't even entertain the notion that their choice was a mistake. These people are the same ones that watch Fox and Frauds and think they are getting the whole honest truth. They are still convinced that Trump was the far better candidate, and breathe sighs of relief and gratitude every day they wake up and Trump is still president. I'm talking about the ones who listen to Trump say, "It's gonna be great," and believe it already is.

(62,534 posts)about 7 % are slowing changing their minds. but stubbornness keeps them from admitting to themselves they were wrong about tRump.
I think another 10% believe tRump is crazy but will never ever admit it as so out of spite.
That leaves 17%. those are the people that terrifying me. Those are the boiled down concentrated repuke base of dog whistle stupidity. the kind that, no matter what tRump does, they will always believe he is right and everyone else is completely wrong. Hell, even as the bombs were falling and the walls in the bunker were cracking, hitler still had supporters that truly believed they could still win the war all because das furor said so.
They (~17%) exist and include the deranged "Xtians" who "thank God every day for President *ump"

(10,497 posts)will the Republicans decide enough is enough!
They don't want to waste the time impeaching Trump since they know they will probably lose the Senate and a lot in the House. They want to push Health Care and Tax "Reform" before 2018 elections. Unfortunately for them they are not getting anything done while they have the opportunity.

(4,463 posts)... I've been saying this for a while. Everyone here seems to want him impeached or driven out tomorrow. But that would allow Pence or Ryan or someone to take over, calm things down, and get republican shit done.
I want this to drag out until the mid terms or even beyond. They are as dysfunctional as possible with all this going on. but we need to remember that the only thing worse than a dysfunctional republican government is a functional one.

(24,324 posts)Even if he does go, there are still all those other sickos--their agenda will be the same.. destroy everything they can and grab all the loot. Plus there still somehow will be Putin.
mreilly
(2,120 posts).... this is both good and bad news, but I believe the GOP doesn't care WHO leads the party so long as they ram their agenda through. That gives me hope they'll ditch Trump because more than anything I want that fucker GONE. Humiliated. Disgraced. Whining how it's unfair.
But it's not over then.
The GOP must realize by now that if they shitcan Trump they can then tell the American people: "OK, you got what you wanted. We got rid of him. Problem solved. It's over." Then they'll proceed with the EXACT same agenda only pushed by Pence. They'll expect to accomplish their goals because they tossed us that bone by getting rid of Trump. Any opposition to them will be met with: "Pence is a decent honorable man, he's no Trump. You need to let us lead now since we catered to your demands by getting rid of the problem."
The simultaneous danger is that those of us on the left will assume Trump's removal ends the matter. The protests, phone calls, town hall meetings, etc. stop because "We won." That's a suicidal mindset. We can't quit the pressure. We can't stop working for the 2018 elections.

Donald Trump Was Wrong to Fire James Comey
by David French May 10, 2017
By firing the FBI director, President Trump made the decisive case for a truly independent investigation.

Amidst all the outrage and fury, its easy to lose sight of the fact that we still dont have a single credible report of collusion between Trump-campaign officials and Russian intelligence. At the same time, we still dont know the full story of Russian efforts to disrupt our presidential election. The crisis we face isnt constitutional, its a crisis of confidence in our public institutions. In an atmosphere of mistrust, conspiracy theories proliferate. By firing James Comey, Trump made the decisive case for a truly independent investigation.
May it commence with all deliberate speed.
Christopher Buckley, son of William, had this to say in 2015.
http://www.cbsnews.com/news/christopher-buckley-donald-trump-new-book-the-relic-master/
.snip
"I think once again, Mr. Trump has proved that he's not really a serious person. Serious people don't say things like that," Buckley said responding to Trump's latest remark. "Mr. Trump is a demagogue, and demagogues tend to use up all the oxygen in the room."
Buckley borrowed from the words of his father, conservative commentator William F. Buckley, to condemn Trump.
"My late father told me once an old rule is -- never debate with an amateur, they'll kill you every time," Buckley said. "An amateur would just shout and say anything, and it makes rational argument impossible."
The state of the current election cycle has led Buckley to put aside political satire for something new -- religious fiction. His new book, "The Relic Master," tells a comic tale of 16th-century rascal mercenaries who cash in on what they claim are the bones and possessions of saints.
"We've reached a point in this election cycle where American politics are self-satirizing," Buckley said "I don't think they need me."

The fact that this action endangers the future of the country is not an issue for them because if the democracy falls they see themselves as the dictators that will control the remains which is what they want anyway.
