I have zero information one way or another that he is or isn't in the tank or out of the tank for or against 45/140.
What I do know is that in his tenure as US Attorney for Maryland he was pretty much a straight shooter. Yes, he is said to be a Republican, but that never seemed to impact his work or reputation while in his last job. While here, he enjoyed bipartisan respect.
Yet, without knowing anything about what's really going on, some on DU are a hate rampage against him. Why?
He said he doesn't see a need for a special prosecutor yet. That's a fact. he said that. He said he would keep the FBI on task doing what they were doing under Comey. That's a fact.
But now some are saying he will go to Trump with all the details. Really? This is known how?
But now some are saying he will be the engineer of a coverup. Really? This is known how?
See, here's the thing. If you think he's going to impede the investigation, that's okay. Say so. Just don't posit it as fact. Tell us its your opinion. We can debate it or ignore you. But when you say speculation is fact, you just contribute to the already overheated stream of mucus and fecal matter that is coming like a hose from the internet.
Facts and cool heads are always helpful.
So anyway, please show us how Rosenstein is obstructing the investigation. Not how you think he's doing it. How he is doing it.

Nothing negative. I think having an opinion from the inside would be really nice.

(16,887 posts)I guess I think we don't know all the details yet, but my sense is this guy is like Comey, a legal Justice Department veteran who has been non-partisan and has worked with many administrations and has respect from many people and was basically used here as the fall guy for the firing. I don't believe that he will go to Trump with details or that he was the engineer of the coverup. It just doesn't make any sense.
So, like you, I think that more information is needed and it will come as the truth is revealed about the events that happened and also when eventually the details of the findings of the investigation are revealed. I think that Sessions was behind this with Trump. And Rosenstein is pissed and the last thing he will do will be to "help Trump". I think this may have made Rosenstein resolved in allowing the truth to come out.
Just my sense.

(102,247 posts)I understand the frustration, but I have to think few would destroy their DOJ/Law Enforcement career over someone like Trump.
I just have to believe that.

(17,003 posts)Maybe the reason he doesn't want a special prosecutor appointed is he is fearful it would be someone who would attempt to sink the investigation. Maybe he is as fearful of the Orange Lunatic as we are and he wants to make sure the investigation stays on track. Maybe he wants to get to the bottom of this ASAP and a new investigation would have to start from scratch. Also, he is privy to information we don't have. Who knows what's in the pipe. Let's see what happens with the Russian hacker we are trying to extradite before we condemn Rosenstein.

(12,422 posts)'It was made up for the Big Con to pull his latest legal blunder...and soon to be his undoing.
A memo from the US deputy attorney general explained that FBI Director James Comey was fired because the FBI's reputation and credibility had "suffered substantial damage" after Comey "usurp[ed] the Attorney General's authority" and announced that an investigation into Hillary Clinton's emails should be closed without prosecution.'
The USA is being run by a kleptocratic kakistrophic klusterf led by DJ Duck.

(218 posts)Rosenstein is letting his single-focus on the FBI get in the way of the clear failure the Congressional Investigations have been due to Republican partisanship and Trump.
Trump already Obstructed the House Investigation and got Nunes kicked out. And McConnell is only allotting 9 staff members to work on the Senate Investigation.
We need bipartisan Independence. Now.
