Just remember - Truth is nothing more than an agreed consensus

What people perceive as "truth" is nothing more than a consensus of ideas.

Trump's sales skills are designed to distort and disrupt the consensus. He and his followers have been shown to be very successful at changing the language in play. Some people call it gaslighting and "alt-facts". The Soviets had their own version of it as well.

The GOP and Trump especially, are experts at language shaping to build a consensus, even contrary to facts. We need to own the language and make sure what is stated appeals to more core things everyone agrees on (Mother, Apple Pie, etc.). They have framed the EPA as being about regulations - it's purpose is to protect and that's what we need to say. They are not removing regulations, but removing protections for people, their drinking water, their air, their children's future.

Truth = subjective

Facts = objective

They can twist people's perspectve of truth, but they can't change the facts.

Alt-facts is a logical fallacy. A contradiction.

So it all comes back to education.

Definitely well stated. You can't change facts - just the perception/perspective of them.

And I agree, education is very important.

but social/political truths. Like "Is Donald Trump a legitimate president?" If enough people say no, he isn't. But the country is divided so there is no consensus, and Trump likes it that way. Same with firing Comey. He gave multiple reasons so that we could all argue about it and be divided. Meanwhile, only he knows what was actually in his mind.

He diverts attention away sometimes to prevent consensus forming over strong policy changes which leaves things to the status quo, a state he uses to his favor.

some say "the natural expansion of a state into its God promised limits".

Another example of truth serving the purposes of a government.

There are many who are expert at shaping language to support their agenda.

Typically failure to achieve a consensus means that status quo is maintained.
