Fox News : Does Donald Trump want to be president?

Fascinating that this article is on the Fox News website.

Relevant quote:

Bellwether wonders whether Trump actually plans to stay in office for four years. Could he be considering a shorter stay in the White House, passing the baton to the widely respected Vice President Mike Pence? Might Trump feel that if and when he achieves his major goals – tighter borders, lower taxes, more American-made goods – he can declare victory and return to his successful career in the private sector?

The president, in his first four months in office, has accomplished much of which to be proud. Like Ronald Reagan, his optimism about America’s future is contagious. The stock market, which many predicted would tank if he were elected, has rebounded convincingly. Consumer confidence is up. Several major employers have announced that they will create thousands of jobs in America.

But his random tweets, his crude public use of insults and threats and his blatant disregard for decorum and the integrity of the office of president raise questions about his willingness to fulfill those duties for the long run.

Perhaps they are laying the groundwork for something?

THIS would be the way for the Republicans to extricate themselves from Trump without ever having admitted that he was a threat to every single American everywhere.

I bet my husband at the 100 day mark that he wouldn't make it to 200 days. I'm going to tell him I want my dinner in NYC along with going to see Stephen Colbert.

"his optimism about America's future is contagious"?

Ya. Uh huh.

Dude has 'accomplished' jack shit in terms of legislation, and maybe if you replace the word 'optimism' with 'sarcasm' or 'bitterness' or 'rage'... then you might be getting close to the truth about the guy.

to many on the right, suddenly the world is a better place to live in and the economy has suddenly taken off since Trump got into office. Nevermind the 7 yrs of Obama where jobs were continually being added yet they quoted overall labor force numbers and such to say it was a fake recovery.

The stock market has stalled because Wall St. doesn't believe he's going to be able to get a health care bill through Congress this year, or the Tax Bill, or the Infrastructure Bill or funding for a Great Wall on the southern border.

I doubt that he will be able to negotiate a new NAFTA that Canada and Mexico will find fair to them nor that American businesses who currently benefit from the current trade agreement can get in line behind. A new agreement would mean a whole new set of winners and losers, and that is not going to be easy.

He has no legislative accomplishments to brag about except getting his SCOTUS confirmed. The Senate is in no rush to pass the health care bill that the House sent over and has said that they will start over from scratch. The Congress hardly works anyway and they have a summer break coming up soon so nothing major is anticipated to pass during the remainder of the fiscal year, which is why they passed the continuing resolution, and by then we will be into the holiday season and 2017 will be behind us. Returning after the holidays and then we will be into 2018 an election year, so don't expect much to happen about Health Care in an election year then either.

I'm glad you could make it through the article without because you do have a point. It's a feel good piece with that little angle letting his base know he'll pass the reins once he's done "winning".
