Is It Genocide?

I have a question

Genocide is the knowing murder of thousands and millions of people.

The republicans in the House of Congress voted to repeal healthcare.

Many who cannot afford healthcare any other way or cannot get insurance because of Pre-existing conditions needed Obamacare for their very survival.

There are many who had conditions that they could not see a doctor to manage their care and by the time they got to Obamacare, they were in severe condition.

Many who were getting cancer treatments got thrown off of their insurance because they hit a ceiling and could no longer get care.

On and on.

The republicans in the House of Congress knew this, knew that many who needed Obamacare for their very survival are going to die as a result of their vote. And they did not care. All they cared about was giving a massive tax cut to the rich - so big, it is seen as the biggest transfer of wealth to one class in history.

So, would that be considered a form of genocide?
And if so, why is no one telling the republicans that that is what they are doing?

I believe the key lies in the etymology of the word "genocide". The "gen" part stands for genetic, which would indicate that the victims are mostly if not all members of a specific gene pool, based on race, ethnicity, nationality etc.

However the depredations of the AHCA are not limited to any particular gene pool, but are rather indiscriminate in that regard, affecting all Americans who are not independently wealthy enough to pay for their own health care without need for health insurance.

So no, while the AHCA as currently written is highly deplorable, it's not genocide. It may, however, be mass murder.

Eugenics was a concept and a practice in the US in the 30's. The idea being the weeding out of the weak, infirmed, elderly, those who have illness at a young age, those who are not at a level of competance or ability to keep up to a self sustaining level are inferior and by illiminating these from the gene pool it strengthens the better performing humans. It's Hitler's idea of perfecting the Arian race although he got the idea from American studies.
Just to spit the crap from my mind... it is a false premise and completely outside of the correct interperatation of "survival of the fittest" It's a twisted interpretation and scientifically bogus... let alone utterly immoral and sociopathic. Ugh.

But in my mind, eugenics is a reasonable term for what the GOP and the fascist far right are trying to do. Certainly it's the right term for the Koch family ancestors... see John Birch Society.

Did he campaign to stop the genocide?

Clinton in the '90s?

No.

Once can generalize words until they basically denote some emotional stance, not anything observable. My term is "GTA," "general term of abuse."

Take "fascist" or "Nazi." I've seen the terms used to describe gay Jews with Slavic surnames. Seriously, at that point all the meaning they had was, "I need to say something laden with heavy negative emotions, and as long as it's offensive I'm happy."
