And, yes, you voted for him. And you know exactly why.

Of course, that's what politicians do during campaigns, but most people understand that their promises are only aspirational and operate mainly as an indication of the candidate's basic philosophy. Maybe the candidate won't be able to deliver universal health care, for example; but at least that promise is an indication to voters that he/she endorses the concept that everyone should be able to get medical care without going broke.

With Trump, though, his promises were never anything but hot air. He doesn't give a shit whether people get jobs, or health care, or anything that doesn't benefit him. Those who voted for him ate up the promises and either failed to notice or else ignored the many, very obvious indications that he was lying through his expensive capped teeth: He has never in his entire career done anything charitable or public-spirited. He's never endowed a charitable foundation (there was a foundation that used other people's money to buy portraits of Trump). The charities he's claimed to have given money to have no record of any donations. He has a long public record of cheating suppliers and contractors. He cut off the medical insurance for his own handicapped nephew. Trump's business dealings (as well as his loose morals) were well known, and should have provided a big fat clue about his attitude toward the "little people."

But he's a con man through and through, and a lot of people fell for the con. Although most people hate to admit that they were conned, maybe at least a few are starting to see what Trump really is.
