Like a pilot shot down, beaten up, and then shoved in front of a TV camera and forced to read a statement written by his captors as a way of staying alive.

He knows he'd got to keep his job by carrying water for Trump. If he gets fired, Ivanka Trump is going to be the new National Security Advisor.
