We're leaving for Europe next week, so it's a pretty big issue for me!

(36,926 posts)We'll only be gone a week. My husband's situation is different. He has research and slides for presentations on his iPad. Ugh, this is all so insane!

(62,444 posts)Is to back up the device to a large USB stick or SD card at this end, obtain a device at the other end, and restore that device from the backup made here.
I have a similar problem coming up as well, and will probably have to find a way to get the data, but not a device, back and forth.

(62,444 posts)That's simply asking for it to be stolen.

(3,148 posts)If the new law goes into effect you can still carry it on the flight to Europe. You would just have to check it with your luggage coming back. The reporter seems like they were speculating so I don't think anyone has a solid answer for you, unfortunately.
Here's a video of the report.

(36,926 posts)If an iPad is checked, it will be stolen and or have every piece of personal and financial data compromised, guaranteed. I will NEVER take that kind of risk. Because of health issues, I have not been able to fly with my husband for 3 years. This may be the first and last time I do it since then. Sucks.
