Having a special counsel will take this investigation out of the news cycle.

It's overdue to have a special counsel take over the investigation.

But it WILL take the investigation out of the public eye and news cycle. Leaks may be fewer. And that's not good, since this will let the Repubs proceed with their march toward the big tax cut, as well as the bad health care bill.

and I can tell you that the coverage will be more intense because the subjects and their lawyers will start talking and jockeying for most favored son position.

Because if not for the free press and leaks, we wouldn't know about a lot of this.

only know at most a few unconnected things that they observe around them, if that. They probably learn what they may mean the way we do, from the press. The written press, of course. TV news is in the sewer.

Thank God that newspapers somehow keep going. I get a lot of news online but still keep a newspaper subscription just so papers survive to keep the profession of real journalism alive.

I would advise everyone to.

Fox just makes stuff up.

They have little time left after all the commercials, and they use that in cynical coverage designed to pump up viewership for their advertisers, not to inform.

If you don't have a subscription to a newspaper, pls get one.

Our country would be in terrible shape without the actual reporting done by print journalists.

The first two do a great deal of investigative journalism, as well as quality analysis.

The last is the only one we subscribe to mostly to support because most of it's free on line. It provides coverage and pictures of acquaintances at local public events to smile over, but its coverage of government meetings is more than a little lacking. What can I say? This is the Deep South, where authoritarianism is a virtue.

I think he will create at least one international incident that will only magnify what is happening now. It will add insult to injury.

This is not going away.

The news is still going after it. And you can be sure they are working on the next scoop. The house/senate investigations after they get to talk to Comey may slow roll and see what impact Mueller may have on this. One thing about dipshit donnie once he is drug out of his corner he will start something new to amuse the masses. All he has to do is make it through one day till he leaves overseas. Be assured he will probably be back whining soon enough.

The print media smells blood and Pulitzer in the water. If they continue this type of reporting, we'll never be without stories of scandal. In turn, cable ne a will continue to report on print media scoops of the day.

So that will help keep it front and center.

But to some degree you want it to go shadowy.

Biggest problem I see is what they will learn internally at the FBI we may never know. Just charges if they happen.

that this is going to accelerate. There may be fewer leaks, but at this recent rate, the bathtub still overflows pretty fast.

Also, with all of the dasdardly legislation the Rs have tried to push, the public needs to be reminded about who they are and what they stand for on legislation, taxes, healthcare, etc. We need to make sure they don't look like victims and we don't look like obstructionists.

I don't think the public is going to forget about this, and trump will continue to get more and more buggy, showing how unqualified he is.
