WASHINGTON President Trump leaves on Friday for a nine-day, five-city foreign excursion, his first trip outside of the United States as the countrys leader and top diplomat.
He doesnt really want to go.
In recent days, Mr. Trump has groused to several friends that he is not looking forward to leaving his new White House cocoon for high-profile, high-pressure meetings with dozens of world leaders in unfamiliar settings.

At one point, he barked at an aide that he thought his first foray abroad should be only about half as long. He will have to abandon his well-known preference for sleeping in his own bed (or in one at the hotels or golf resorts he owns) as he hops between Saudi Arabia, Israel, Belgium, Italy and the Vatican all places without a Trump-branded property.
But the trip comes at a critical moment for Mr. Trumps young presidency. It is his first opportunity to deliver specifics about his America First worldview to a global audience that has watched his initial, chaotic months in the White House with a mix of amusement, befuddlement and alarm.

(21,596 posts)I wasn't counting the rallies as truly open public events. He holds them at places with restricted access like the airport near Mar a Lago.
Trump filed documents to establish the Trump 2020 presidential campaign committee on the day of his inauguration. He started running for the 2020 presidential election on day one of his first term.

(3,335 posts)actually pronounce it correctly. Geeze. I can hear him whining now. Why can't I just call him Pope? Or just say, "Hey Buddy". These are too many names to remember.
Also who would have known to pronounce Erdogan, Er do juan? Perhaps someone who did their homework.
At least he won't embarrass us. He'll just embarrass himself. He won't be able to play it off, either. After all, this isn't his usual Rally Crowd who would clap and cheer anything he said. I have a feeling even BiBi will be saying by the end of the day, "Where's the black guy? This guy doesn't know shit about Jerusalem or my people, and he's starting to piss me off. At least Obama could pronounce my name. And when I said the West Bank he wasn't looking for a place with a Teller or an ATM machine like this idiot."

(58,706 posts)he used to hide from the fact that nobody likes him by hiding amongst his paid syncophants.
Now, he gets to live in the public eye, and is coming to realize that "all publicity is good publicity" is not necessarily true in politics.
He won the election because face it, that's a publicity/ratings game and he knows how to drag ratings. Now it's about more than that, and he doesn't have any "more" behind his theatrics.

(90,785 posts)They are doing everything they can to dumb down world issues for him.
They have all promised to exclaim "Good boy!" whenever he uses the words great, tremendous, or bigly.

(42,766 posts)He won't be able to endure the strain. And he will embarrass the USA much more than he already has.

(22,651 posts)Trump should be worried about "home" in the White House. Pence is already sitting in the Oval office and got rid of those ridiculous flag ribbons.
