I have berated myself over it; I have told myself I shouldnt indulge in such negative feelings. Ive told myself I am a better person than that. Apparently, I am not.
I loathe Republicans in office, and I loathe the people who elected them.
Year after year, I have watched them destroy this country from within.
I have listened to their sanctimonious prattle about their good family values, their Christian morals, their exemplary behaviour lectures often delivered by thrice-married men as they stand beside their last mistress who is now their latest trophy wife.
I have heard those in office, who are pulling down six-figure salaries that include healthcare coverage, generous expense accounts and lifelong pensions ALL funded by taxpayers, admonishing those same taxpayers to tighten their belts, sacrifice, and/or simply do without luxuries luxuries like decent food, healthcare, liveable housing, and a living wage.
I have watched them take funding away from the down-and-out in order to fund tax-breaks for the wealthy. I have watched them whittle away the funding for programs aimed at assisting the most vulnerable among us the poor, the homeless, the sick, the dying while touting their good Christian values. I have watched them deny funding for our veterans while they proclaim their patriotism, and plot to send more of our valiant warriors into harms way because their lives are less important than the profits to be realized by the big-donor corporations that ultimately line Republican pockets as a result of global conflict.
I have watched them initiate measures that make voting all but impossible for citizens who traditionally vote for the other side. I have watched them lie repeatedly in order to garner the votes of the very people whose best interests they will, and invariably do, vote against once elected.
I have watched them vote against the rights of women, children, gays/lesbians. I have watched them vote against the rights of minorities. Time and again, I have watched them vote against the rights of anyone who is FOR the rights they disagree with.
I have heard them rant against the evils of science and math being taught in our schools. I have heard them rail against the evils of Sharia Law while promoting the idea of Christianity or their version thereof supplanting the religious beliefs of non-Christians in our schoolrooms and our government. I have heard them vilify sex education in our classrooms, as they pose for photo-ops with their illegitimate grandchildren. I have heard them espouse their dedication to Christian principles while ignoring the principles that Jesus himself taught.
As though further proof were needed as to where Republicans stand, their ultimate goals have become glaringly apparent with their nomination, election, and continuing support of Donald Trump. They have finally succeeded in installing an ignorant, lying, self-absorbed idiot in the Oval Office, a man who literally epitomizes the concept that greed is good and concern for the nation or its populace is to be disregarded.
I have no sympathy for those who will now suffer the consequences of their loyalty to the GOP and their so-called pResident. They voted for a bloviating, self-serving bigot who is as dumb as they are. They supported the presidency of an international laughingstock, who bragged about pussy-grabbing, mocked the disabled and, above all else was more than willing to collude with our sworn enemy, the Russians, in order to be elected.
I loathe Republicans, and those who elect them. There is NOTHING to be said on their behalf; there is no excuse for their political ignorance. Anyone who says they didnt see where a Trump presidency would end up is lying or is just too god-damned stupid to be allowed to vote.
Of all the enemies we must face, Republicans ARE the most loathsome, the most abhorrent, the most dangerous to our democracy and its continuing existence.
When you place a Putin ass-kisser in the White House, when you actually defend his obvious collusion with our enemies, when you decide that handing over the countrys confidential information to our sworn enemy is acceptable, you ARE the enemy.
One more time: I loathe Republicans and those who elect them. I am confident in my assessment of their treachery, and I am convinced of their determination to un-do all that is right, all that is fair, all that is just, all that is representative of what our country stands for.
There is nothing - I repeat, NOTHING - that Republicans have said or done that advances the rights of the citizenry, from the right to have their votes counted to the right to earn a living wage, to the right to be educated, to the right to marry their partner-of-choice, to the right to refuse to bear unwanted children borne of incest and/or rape, to the right to determine their own destiny.
The enemies that surround us are determined to defeat us. But it is the enemy within that poses the greatest threat. And those who side with that enemy must be recognized for who they are.

(11,410 posts)incarnate. It makes me sick when commentators on these news shows say, "well, maybe it's just a matter of Trump's inexperience."
I am so tired of people making excuses for these rotten, irredeemable bags of shit.
Every day the decency bar is lowered farther and farther until it is subterranean.
Seems the glue that keeps society together is disappearing. The only thing real
to these inhumans is GREED.
Watching these news show anchors struggle to say something "fair" about
these blithering puss bags is like listening to scraping on a chalk board.
Sometimes I can't help but wonder if the word TRUTH has any meaning
whatsoever in this world.

(9,773 posts)The columnist wants us to find the positive aspects of Trump. WTF?! What is the point of that? What is wrong with Trump is so very wrong and bad for our country and our allies that whatever little tiny good there is is irrelevant.
The first column wanted us to focus on how great it is that Trump uses Twitter so much. I kid you not!

(100,129 posts)And not only do they not care, in the 2016 election, they wore their ignorance and racial hatred on their sleeves. It's scary how much the anti-PC crowd turned out in droves to elect the orange gasbag. I have never seen anything like the hate that is pouring out of the GOP. It's not like they just don't like our opinions, they want us dead. People like Alex Jones and Theodore Shoebat have amplified the hate in this country to way past 11. I'm not religious, but I'm praying we make it to 2018 and we can start voting these assholes out of office. And they can take their supporters with them.

(27,821 posts)... like many of us, I have tried to be "tolerant".
I have tried to see things from "their" viewpoint - but all I see is corruption disguised as political expediency, immorality couched as "Christian ethics", a war on the citizenry proffered as concern for their well-being, and collusion with our enemies being paraded as patriotism.
The Republicans have shown us who they are - there is no going back from here.

I agree with you 100%. My entire family are Republicans, and I mean THE ENTIRE family! I'm the only Democrat. We have spirited discussions when we all congregate which, thankfully, isn't that often. I'm FAR MORE educated on the issues, and can make them look like fools, if I so choose. I know I'm not going to sway a single mind in the house, so I seldom bring up political issues. It's just not worth it. If they weren't my family ........ I'm not that gentle and non-confrontational with the rest of that sad lot of Republicans, though, and will never run from a heated discussion with them. They're cement heads, but once in a while I get one that will leave the reservation and listen to REASON, and not the party line.
Screw 'em. Our goal has to be kicking their asses in the 2018 mid-terms, and I MEAN KICKING THEIR ASSES. NO MORE MR. NICE GUY! We have to send a message that America IS NOT a "christian nation", or a nation that wants fascism knocking on it's door in the disguise of a Republican "patriot". Americans want to love their families (whatever the sexual orientation), have good paying jobs, do more than just "exist', be healthy at a reasonable price, have access to a quality education and not have the burden of tens of thousands of dollars in debt when they're finished. That's just to name a FEW things the greatest country on earth should provide their citizens, and for EVERYONE, not just a chosen few. The playing field in this country MUST be leveled. It's currently tilted in one direction, and one direction only.
OK, rant off. This WAS your political screed, and I sort of hijacked it. It's so darned easy to do when you're talking about our arch-enemy, though. Let's just mop the floor with these jerks and LET THEM KNOW that a new era has dawned for America. Business as usual IS NOT a political strategy from now on! Now let's get busy!

(15,428 posts)The current breed of repuglicans are evil at worst, incompetent at best.
However, let's be careful that trolls like Lieberman and other pseudo moderates/liberals don't split the democratic party apart. Venality, corruption, power, greed can all get under the skin of any politician, no matter the R/D after their name or their professions of purpose.
Trust politicians only by what they have done, and done over a period of time. Don't ever trust them by their words.

They seem to suffer from not me. It is someone else. I am deserving and others are not. The the 23 diner is just up from where I work. >Of all the enemies we must face, Republican media outlets (Fox News, Limbaugh, RW radio, Breitbart, etc.) ARE the most loathsome, the most abhorrent, the most dangerous to our democracy and its continuing existence.
Many GOP voters don't spend too much time on politics and might be surprised to hear just what a corrupt, criminal, treasonous fool this President is.
But the GOP strategists who run conservative media know EXACTLY what they are doing. They are burning down American democracy just to enrich themselves. They will be judged harshly, by history and by their Creator.

We love these everything's, and your OP is loaded w/ everything! Nothing missing. 👏
I've been in a gradually building loathing state. It's not my inherent nature till this travesty happened.
I've had to back off some. They're not gonna have the upper hand putting me so in distress.
I hold that the ones wreaking havoc will indeed ultimately come to the end of themselves. "It is written."

(18,470 posts)They are destroying our nation from the inside out. The GOP will be the death of all of us, not the Russians, al-Qaida, ISIS, or any other nation. I loathe them and every last goddamn person who voted for Agent Fornicate Face and his GOP groupies, without exception.
And if they don't like it they can kiss my ass. I'm not one of those "tolerant and understanding liberals" the right loves to go on about.
I can remember even when I was growing up the GOP seemed to have some willingness to put country before party. I can remember back in 1988 the Republicans decided it was better to support the Democrat instead of the Republican David Duke on the grounds that speaking out against hate was more important than winning an election. Nowadays they loudly support the hate.

(32 posts)1. The cult of tradition. One has only to look at the syllabus of every fascist movement to find the major traditionalist thinkers. The Nazi gnosis was nourished by traditionalist, syncretistic, occult elements.
2. The rejection of modernism. The Enlightenment, the Age of Reason, is seen as the beginning of modern depravity. In this sense Ur-Fascism can be defined as irrationalism.
3. The cult of action for actions sake. Action being beautiful in itself, it must be taken before, or without, any previous reflection. Thinking is a form of emasculation.
4. Disagreement is treason. The critical spirit makes distinctions, and to distinguish is a sign of modernism. In modern culture the scientific community praises disagreement as a way to improve knowledge.
5. Fear of difference. The first appeal of a fascist or prematurely fascist movement is an appeal against the intruders. Thus Ur-Fascism is racist by definition.
6. Appeal to social frustration. One of the most typical features of the historical fascism was the appeal to a frustrated middle class, a class suffering from an economic crisis or feelings of political humiliation, and frightened by the pressure of lower social groups.
7. The obsession with a plot. The followers must feel besieged. The easiest way to solve the plot is the appeal to xenophobia.
8. The enemy is both strong and weak. By a continuous shifting of rhetorical focus, the enemies are at the same time too strong and too weak.
9. Pacifism is trafficking with the enemy. For Ur-Fascism there is no struggle for life but, rather, life is lived for struggle.
10. Contempt for the weak. Elitism is a typical aspect of any reactionary ideology.
11. Everybody is educated to become a hero. In Ur-Fascist ideology, heroism is the norm. This cult of heroism is strictly linked with the cult of death.
12. Machismo and weaponry. Machismo implies both disdain for women and intolerance and condemnation of nonstandard sexual habits, from chastity to homosexuality.
13. Selective populism. There is in our future a TV or Internet populism, in which the emotional response of a selected group of citizens can be presented and accepted as the Voice of the People.
14. Ur-Fascism speaks Newspeak. All the Nazi or Fascist schoolbooks made use of an impoverished vocabulary, and an elementary syntax, in order to limit the instruments for complex and critical reasoning.
