This morning, I went to the storage facility where my wife and I had been storing her late mother's stuff after she moved out of her townhouse. We've had two storage rooms there, now, for three years. As she transitioned from assisted living to memory care facilities, we made more trips to store additional items, since each move stripped her of more of her worldly possessions as her memory failed.
Today's trip was to let Bridging, a local organization that provides furniture for homeless and otherwise displaced people as they move into more permanent housing, take away the last of the furniture. It will provide someone with comfort, storage and other necessities. That was the last of what had been in storage. The rest has been distributed, donated, discarded, or brought to our home for further sorting and disposition.
Handing over the keys to those two storage units provided a certain sense of closure for both my wife and I. No more charges to a credit card for items that were kept mostly so we could tell her mother, "It's in storage," when she asked about old familiar possessions. Sadly, she can no longer ask about them, and they're no longer in storage. It's a mixed set of emotions surrounding this, but there is a sense of relief at no longer having to deal with that stuff, mixed with sadness at no longer having her with us to ask where things were.
I'm anticipating no mixed emotions, though, with regard to Donald Trump. The only closure I need with him is for him to leave the White House, leave the daily news, and give us our nation back. The sooner he is gone, the better, as far as I'm concerned. I no longer want to think about him, be horrified at his latest gaffe, or worry about what harm he will cause next. When he is no longer in office, however that occurs, my closure will be marked by saying only, "Good riddance to bad rubbish."
Hasten the day.

(42,641 posts)Trump is a publicity addict, and the US corporate media needs his diversion to attract viewers and advertising revenue.

(8,445 posts)I'd like to see occasional updates about how 45, Ivanka, Kushner, and the whole damned bunch are doing in prison. I'm just petty like that, I guess.
