(10,173 posts)In all seriousness, let's take stock of the fact that in just 3 months this President has done the sort of damage we never thought could be done in just 3 months.

(24,324 posts)I know someone who worked in the state department, retired now. He told me before the election "trump can't do that much damage" he seemed to have faith that the bureaucracy could function as a check and balance against even a President Trump. He has faith I don't have.

Proud Liberal Dem
(24,412 posts)that we need to figure out how to safeguard our own elections first. What's worst is that any "help" that the US gives Germany may well be compromised. I would not be surprised if that's another reason why Germany has declined our "assistance". I feel ashamed to be an American right now and it makes me feel sad about how far we have fallen in terms of world opinion and how fast. I'm sure that we all remember how Republicans blamed (falsely) Obama for diminishing our country in the eyes of the world, right? Trump has now made that falsehood a glaring reality.

(11,686 posts)hack. We are not stupid enough to think our government would not work with the Russians to move their election the way they want it. Germany is smarter than that.

(100,068 posts)So the US is offering to help Germany with their elections? Why don't they just cut out the middle man and let Russia choose their leaders directly? That's like asking Trump for exercising tips.
