About the notion that Comey will not go so far as to say their was obstruction . . . .

. . . . keep in mind that his is a very unusual situation. What he says or doesn't say can still impact Mueller's investigation. It is up to Mueller now, not Comey, to say if there was obstruction. It is Comey's job now to speak in a very limited way lest he influence the investigation.

He will speak to facts. He will not speak to speculation or to details of what is now someone else's investigation.

Some have averred he is going to give Donnie Two Scoops a way out, a pas, a Get Out Of Jail Free card.

He will not.

Comey has a lot of flaws. He is far from my favorite character in this whole mess, but I do think he will do the right thing with respect to his testimony. I do NOT think he will do anything to specifically defend Trump or deflect any allegations he knows to be either true or still seen as possible.

and let the facts speak for themselves. That will be far more powerful then walking in and just making all kinds of claims, which is what Trump would do.

Most here think that Comey will pull out some sort of smoking gun, but I don't think so.

In fact, this could well be a two-edged sword, I expect the GOP to pressure him to reveal more about how he handled the Hillary thing in the last few months of the election. He'll either have to look like a bumbling fool, or maybe he'll cover his ass with some new tidbit about her that we have no idea is coming. The Repukes would love nothing more than to turn this around from a prosecution of Trump into an indictment of Hillary, and I expect them to at least try to do that.

Exactly this. Pretending he was ever going to call it obstruction is baloney. False expectations!
