Handel: "I do not support a livable wage"

During Tuesday night’s debate for an open U.S. House seat in Georgia, Republican candidate Karen Handel said that she does not support a “livable wage.”

“This is an example of the fundamental difference between a liberal and a conservative: I do not support a livable wage,” she said on Atlanta’s WSB-TV in response to a viewer question about raising the minimum wage. “What I support is making sure that we have an economy that is robust with low taxes and less regulation.”

Handel said that raising the minimum wage could “dramatically” hurt small businesses.

Jon Ossoff, said that “the minimum wage should be a living wage.” He noted that he supports raising the minimum wage gradually so that businesses can slowly adapt to the increase.

Ossoff: "Someone working full time should earn a decent standard living.

Her cruelty also factored in the big slide in donations for the "run for the cure" charity too, right?

I don't know -- can't begin to explain and wouldn't even try. I just hope she maintains that momentum (downward slide), LOL

Call me when the Dems actually win one. Not pinning my hopes on the good folks in Newt's former congressional district.

"I do not support a livable wage."

I do not support you earning enough money to support yourself much less a family.

I do not support you being paid a wage that allows you the chance to feed yourself much less your family.

Nice.

What a piece of shit.

That when she says she supports low taxes and less regulation what she is really saying is, "I support corporate give-aways and the corporation's right to fuck over the consumer without worry of consequences."

The right wing propaganda machine is going to be out in full force to reframe and divert, to prevent those words from hurting the right.

I haven't even gone to Breitbart or Fox news' website to see how they are framing it yet.

We need to keep repeating it. We'll see if she's held to those words.

I can't figure out if she misspoke or not here, but this needs to be the next Ossoff ad. It should be the final nail in her coffin.

I was very impressed with what I saw of him during the debate-just clips on the internet, but he seems like the kind of person we need to take it to the Republicans. I wish more Democrats actually called them out on their horribleness.

All I am asking for, whatever the politics of any particular politician, is that they CALL THEM OUT. Stand on the floor of the House or Senate, or, hell, hold a press conference, and tell the world what stinking piles of festering ooze the Republicans really are. I mean, some already do that, but I want to hear more, not more "we can agree to disagree" bullshit.

Minimum wage? Guaranteed income? These things keep rich people from doing whatever the fuck they want to do with us, and are the opposite of the Republican Party's platform.
