This has been proven by how sincere protests can leverage public and politicians awareness and opinions.

When it comes down to it, we just need the Ds in front of the name so that the Rs don't get to make all the decisions.

Realistic democrats and independents were hip to this for the general election, having whiny protested voters handed this to a Traitor, a capital T Traitor and they knew it was happening and they still voted against the one of the most competent candidates we've seen.

I don't give a shit if you don't like their voice or how they dress. Fucking read their platform and educate yourself. Hillary had a detailed platform on her website did any of those protesters spend one damn second? She would have been a lot more desirable than protest candidates that didn't know where or what Aleppo is.

a few might be, but a lot of them are probably conservative trolls trying to divide us.

I'm still hoping this is the last year of Trump's presidency and we'll have some good liberal to defeat Pence in a major landslide that gives us both houses of Congress too. One can dream...

How about we pick someone who puts people before profits. Someone who isn't owned by Wall Street, or any lobbyist. Once we get that person let's devote our time and money to their campaign. I'm not interested in degrees of evil. We have to demand better. I raised my kids not to do evil. I never told them lesser degrees of evil are something they could do. How about you?

Please enlighten me how this perfect Third-Party-candidate will win in a Two-Party-system. You do realize that in the US elections are winner-takes-all, right? If the guy in second place and the guy in third place have more votes than the guy in first place, the guy in first place still wins. Does "Ralph Nader" ring a bell?

The world does not work the way you would like it to work. In other election-systems in other countries, that's where your idea would work. But the US election-system is designed in a way that voting third party wastes your vote and makes the victory of the winner even bigger.

You can whine and complain and demand purer candidates all you want. When it comes down to voting, they would do nothing but splitting the democratic vote.

Not Green Underground. Not Purity Underground. And certainly not not Unicorn Underground, which is what you're dreaming of.

If you're prepared to back the strongest Democratic candidate(s), great. If you're going to quibble that the Democratic candidate(s) are not enough this-or-that, well, my guess is that you might be unhappy here, and a LOT of other people will be unhappy as well. We've just been through this scenario, and it's still a sore point. Because this division, in part, gave the election to Trump and his gang.

Sometimes reality actually DOES come down to degrees of imperfect choice. (It bothers me to use your term "evil," as that unwarranted tag, as applied to Hillary Clinton, was manufactured and worn smooth by the right wing (and their Russian comrades).

I do not see Trump as the GOP Presidential candidate in 2020

Impeachment
Resignation
Federal Prison
Amendment 25
Insane Asylum
GOP Primary Loss
Coma
Death

Take your pick, but one of those scenarios is a far more likely outcome.

We'll be eating our own against someone else entirely.

is that you can back your favorite candidate in the primary. Once the primary is over - it's over. If your least favorite candidate wins the primary s/he will still be miles better than whoever the Repubs put up.

Sore losers and purists will cause Trump or worse to be elected. We must learn how things work in the real world.
