Shell shocked Fox News is like a ghost town as ratings fall and future looks uncertain

Roiled by the departures of former CEO Roger Ailes and ratings star Bill OReilly, Fox News is facing an uncertain future as ratings slip for the first time in decades and viewers migrate to other platforms.
Vanity Fairs Sarah Ellison wrote that the departure of rising star Megyn Kelly for NBC has further dispirited the Leftovers at Fox.
Weeks after the unexpected death of ousted co-founder Roger Ailes, and the shocking departures of anchor Bill OReilly and Ailess former deputy Bill Shine, whom one former Fox News executive called Ailess spiritual brother, the existential angst within the companys subterranean newsroom has reached a deeper level, Ellison said.
The warring factions within the network mirror a generational gap between NewsCorp CEO Rupert Murdock and his sons, James and Lachlan. Murdoch Senior represents the old guard within the company, who want very much to put the last years ugly scandal headlines behind them and soldier on.
James and Lachlan long embarrassed by Foxs right-wing bias and the exposure of the companys frat-house culture of sexual harassment and racial bullying represent a reformist movement within the company, which wants to shed its right-wing past and be taken more seriously as a journalistic organization.

(82,849 posts)Well, suck it up, buttercups. Now you know how Americans feel as they watch Congress try to dismantle the Affordable Care Act. Will my pre-existing condition still be covered? Will my premiums double? Or triple? Are we back to the days of choosing to eat or taking my medication? Can I go every other day on my prescription instead of every day?
You're feeling uncertain, Fox? Tough. And fuck you all sideways.
