Trump is a narcissist. Narcissists lie. Whether something is true or not is not important to them. All that matters is their personal objective, which is to be the center of attention and to draw admiration from others. They will say anything to achieve that objective. They will lie whenever a lie is more convenient than the truth. In fact, even when the truth is not particularly inconvenient, they will still lie.

Trump is saying he will buy American and hire Americans because that's what his admirers want to hear. Whether he actually intends to buy American or hire Americans is neither here nor there. The truth just doesn't matter, as far as Trump is concerned.

Please, people, do a Google search about Narcissistic Personality Disorder. Stop being so puzzled by everything Trump does. He's a textbook narcissist. Once you realize that and understand what it means, everything he does will make sense to you.
