He is confusing the Clinton email investigation with the Russian-Trump investigation. He keeps saying Comey when he means to say Trump.

(2 posts)Just found this out yesterday, "...Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.), Senate Minority Leader Charles E. Schumer (D-N.Y.) and Sens. John McCain (R-Ariz.) and Jack Reed (D-R.I.) ..... are ex officio members of the committee given their Senate leadership positions (McConnell, Schumer) or leadership of the Senate Armed Services Committee (McCain, Reed)."

(492 posts)McCain really sounds like he's lost it. Making no sense at all. Like he can't distinguish between a completed investigation of Clinton and an on-going investigation of Trump/Russia.

(32,886 posts)he's trying to create the impression that there is a double standard that Hillary and her campaign aren't being investigated regarding the Russian interference when there is zero evidence or attempts at contact between her campaign and the Russians.
All the evidence has to do with Trumps team having contact with the Russians.

He is trying to comingle the two situations AND trying to claim HRC was part of the Russian influence of the election.

(8,978 posts)Only worse. Equating Hillary's closed email investigation with on ongoing investigation of the Trump campaign over Russian interference. And why the conclusions are different, when there is no conclusion (yet) on the latter. If this was an attempt at applying false equivalence, it was a dismal failure. Whether the absurd line of questioning on McCain's part was intentional of the result of dementia is anyone's guess.
Guilded Lilly
(5,591 posts)Quite clear. To insinuate that Clinton was involved as something other than a victim and that the process against the Cretin is unfair.
He looked and sounded doddering and his obsession to seem important and deep was typical MCCain ego.
He is still a total, old fart jerk.
