Top 10 Conservative Idiots #3-2: Don’t Beauregard That Joint Edition

Welcome back to the Top 10 Conservative Idiots! First off, RIP Adam West. Can we get a round of applause for Adam West, the OG Batman? Yeah! So throughout this edition, we are going to be paying tribute to the man, the myth, the legend that is the great Adam West. And second, congratulations to the Pittsburgh Penguins for winning a second Stanley Cup. Predators, you put up a good fight and next year we can expect tons of dead catfish on the ice. Also congratulations to the Golden State Warriors for winning a title as well. And also a tip of the hat to the Warriors for not wanting to go visit the asshole currently occupying the White House! That is awesome! Can we talk some talk some tributes for a minute? Look, I am a huge fan of Chris Cornell, and prior to his untimely death from suicide, I wish we had got him on the show. His last album “Higher Truth” is amazing. But you know not every tribute knocks it out of the park. There have been some great ones – I saw Incubus do a tribute to Cornell 2 weeks ago and they nailed it. Then at least one of the guys who knew Cornell the best – Audioslave’s Tom Morello – played this amazing tribute to Cornell with an empty mic stand and the audience sang along to “Black Hole Sun”. Then other bands like Bush and Guns N Roses and Metallica payed tribute to the Soundgarden front man. And then there was Dream Theater, who payed tribute during a show in Bucharest 2 weeks ago. Look, I love Dream Theater, I’ve seen them in concert multiple times. I’ve traveled to see them in concert. I’ve met James LaBrie and Jordan Ruddess in real life, I have lots of their albums and merchandise. But that said, I will say… how do you fuck this up??? You have a band compromised of some of the most insanely talented musicians in the world, you can at least take 5 minutes to Google the lyrics and maybe rehearse them before you go on stage in front of 5,000 people! Let’s roll the tape:

Whew, that was bad. James you might want to take a page from Southwest and get away from the tour for a couple of days. OK enough of the intro, we have a lot of idiocy to get to! But first – speaking of music – we got to play the debut music video from the super group Prophets of Rage. It is quite amazing:

&t=2s

My god this week was a banner week for idiocy. We picked the right time to start a new season! Whew, it was crazy. Bear with us. Predisent Trump (see what I did there?) is going to occupy the top 2 slots this week. In slot number one is Donald Trump (1) and he’s had his worst week ever. And it’s mainly because of the Comey hearings and we will go into that in great detail. It’s so bizarre that Washington, DC literally had to stop and do some heavy day drinking because Donald Trump (2) continues to obstruct, and we are going to try the DC Bar’s famous Covfefe Cocktail, and among other Trump insanity – he crashed a wedding at his golf course. At number 3 is Eric Trump (3) who briefly flirts with genocide without realizing he’s flirting with genocide. Oh and he also stole money from kids with cancer. Taking the 4th seed is Donald Trump Supporters (4). We’re going to ask “How Is This Still A Thing?”. Conservative idiocy comes into full public view during the March Against Sharia this week, and we are going to delve into full detail about what went down. Taking the fifth slot, John McCain (5) gave some absolutely bizarre commentary about the Comey investigation, and has an equally bizarre excuse to back up his shenanigans. In the number 6 slot, we’re going to the state of Washington to ask the question “Evergreen College – What the fuck?”. Evergreen College (6) is under fire for repeatedly shooting themselves in the foot over alleged racism from a biology professor and this is one crazy, fucked up situation that isn’t going away any time soon. In the number 7 slot, I was originally going to talk about the British elections – which are pretty fucking crazy in their own right – but instead we have to talk about Jeff Sessions. Good god that was a shit show in the truest sense. At the number 8 slot, we’re going to try something new. We’re going to debut a new segment called “This Fucking Guy” and the first recipients are Theodore Shoebat and Pat Robertson – both batshit crazy religious fundamentalists. In the number 9 (NEIN!!!!) slot we’ve also got a new segment – and a Top 10 original for that! It’s called “You Probably Shouldn’t Have Done That”. And the subject? Megyn Kelley (9) interviewed Alex Jones on her show. And yeah Megyn, you probably shouldn’t have done that. Finally this week, we have the next stop of our Top 10 Conservative Idiots World Tour! (10) and we’re going from France to their next door neighbors – Italy! Italy has an election coming up and they have as much to lose as France, England, and the US do! So will conservative idiots dominate or will democracy prevail? Stay tuned to find out! Plus, ladies and gentlemen, we are celebrating LGBT Pride month here at the Top 10 Conservative Idiots. So with that in mind, our musical guests over the next 3 weeks are going to reflect this. So the first artist we’re having is Case/Lang/Veirs who have a great new self titled album out. Enjoy! And as always don’t forget the key!

So Trump may have had his worst week ever. And that’s not including last week, which may have been his worst week ever, or his worst week ever since two weeks ago, and that may have been his worst week ever. Oh fuck it, every week for Donald Trump is the worst week since the last week. And I got to give Smirnoff props for a really clever ad that takes a shot at our current liar in chief:

So how fucked is Trump this week? Well juxtapose that with how fucked Trump was last week. I’m of course talking about the whole Trump – Comey situation. But here’s where the whole thing goes south:

President Donald Trump called James Comey "cowardly" and said he thought any leaked information coming from the former FBI director could be "far more prevalent" than believed in his latest early morning Twitter jab.

"I believe the James Comey leaks will be far more prevalent than anyone ever thought possible. Totally illegal? Very 'cowardly!'" Trump tweeted Sunday morning.

The tweet was the second social media lash out from Trump towards the fired FBI director since Comey's dramatic testimony before the Senate Intelligence Committee on Thursday.
http://www.nbcnews.com/politics/donald-trump/president-trump-calls-james-comey-very-cowardly-n770731

Well… seems we got a pickle on our hands here. And I’m not talking about Trump’s pickle which is very tiny by the way. Hey o!!! Thank you I’m here all week, don’t forget to tip your waitress! But guess what – Trump expected Comey’s 100% ass kissing loyalty, and when Comey didn’t kiss Trump’s ass 100%, guess what happened?

Fired FBI Director James B. Comey said President Trump told him at the White House “I need loyalty, I expect loyalty’’ in their private White House dinner conversation in January, according to written testimony prepared by Comey.

In written remarks submitted to the Senate Intelligence Committee on Wednesday — a day before his much-anticipated testimony — Comey said he remembered nine separate private conversations with President Trump. Three were in person and six on the phone.

When the president made his comments about loyalty at the Jan. 27 dinner, Comey wrote that “I didn’t move, speak, or change my facial expression in any way during the awkward silence that followed. We simply looked at each other in silence. The conversation then moved on, but he returned to the subject near the end of our dinner.’’

When prompted again on the subject of loyalty, Comey said he replied, “You will always get honesty from me.’’

Oh and if you guessed that Trump’s accusations against Comey are 100% baseless, you are 100% correct sir / madam!

We know that James B. Comey is a leaker. It's doubtful that he's a criminal; legal experts have said that even though the former FBI director shared his memos of conversations with President Trump with the media, if the information wasn't classified, that probably wasn't a crime.

Which could help explain why on Sunday, Trump upped the ante by tweeting this:

Trump just basically accused the FBI director he fired of leaking classified information, days after Comey testified under oath to Congress that the president might have interfered in an FBI investigation.

In hindsight, this tweet probably shouldn't have been surprising: When the president feels threatened, his go-to move is to accuse his opponent of doing something illegal and offer no evidence to back it up. Conspiracy theorists can and will pick this up and run with it, people can choose to believe which narrative they want, and the waters are sufficiently muddied.
https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/the-fix/wp/2017/06/12/trumps-defense-against-comey-has-fallen-into-a-predictable-pattern-make-a-baseless-accusation/?utm_term=.52fcfbd9bc51

Wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait. Wait. Wait. Wait. Wait. Wait. Trump lies? Are you fucking kidding me? The president lied!!! Repeatedly! Oh wait yeah – Trump lies so fucking much that his lies begat lies, which begat lies. This is Lieception! Oh and guess what? Trump sees his Comey’s testimony as a “vindication”. Remember Al Capone’s vault? Remember what the epic fail that turned out to be? This is kind of like that, but it’s really not.

To Democrats and many legal experts in both parties, the Senate testimony from fired FBI director James B. Comey is devastating to President Trump — portraying him as a liar who sought to halt the federal investigation into a former top aide and putting him in dire legal peril.

But to Trump, many Republicans and a broad constellation of surrogates and conservative media outlets, the takeaway is much different: exoneration.

“Despite so many false statements and lies, total and complete vindication,” the president tweeted early on the morning after Comey’s testimony.

That point of view has ricocheted across the conservative media world, both organically and in coordination with a hastily organized rapid-response operation at the Republican National Committee. The result is a parallel narrative — reinforced by the president himself on Twitter and at a Friday news conference — that spun Comey’s testimony as a clear victory and, publicly at least, cast aside any potential dangers that may lie ahead.
https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/trump-sees-comeys-testimony-as-complete-vindication--and-his-fans-agree/2017/06/10/b3c72bd4-4d2b-11e7-9669-250d0b15f83b_story.html?utm_term=.c4e43cc4e8d1

Now here’s where it gets weird – as if that wasn’t already possible. You know what Paul Ryan’s excuse for Trump’s recklessness and gross incompetence is? Well this excuse might work for Homer Simpson, but not for the fucking President Of The United Sates!!!

A day after New Jersey governor Chris Christie unveiled the “normal New York City” talk defense of President Trump’s controversial conversations with former FBI director James Comey, House Speaker Paul Ryan arrived with his own dumb excuse for Trump on Wednesday.

“He’s new to government,” Ryan said, after emphasizing the importance of an independent Justice Department. “So he probably wasn’t steeped in the long-running protocols that establish the relationships between DOJ, FBI, and White Houses. He’s just new to this.”
http://nymag.com/daily/intelligencer/2017/06/paul-ryans-excuse-for-trump-hes-just-new-to-this.html

And you know what Trump did once he figured that out? Why he held an extremely bizarre and awkward cabinet meeting where he made everyone pledge their undying loyalty to him! Audience members, how loyal are you? Can I get some applause? Hey you, you’re not applauding! I need 100% damn it!!!!

Once Trump finished touting his administration's accomplishments, he turned to several of his newly-minted Cabinet secretaries like Agriculture Secretary Sonny Perdue. Each of those Cabinet secretaries lavished praise on Trump, which he accepted without comment but with a broad smile.

At first, I thought Trump was just going to have the new members of the Cabinet spend a few minutes praising him. NOPE! It soon became clear that Trump planned to have every Cabinet member speak. And when I say "speak" what I really mean is "praise Trump for his accomplishments, his foresight, his just being awesome."

You think I am exaggerating. I am not. Here's what White House Chief of Staff Reince Priebus said about Trump: "We thank you for the opportunity and blessing to serve your agenda."

And now it’s time for:

Yeah I need a drink is coming early this week. As if this whole thing with Trump couldn’t possibly get any weirder – it’s going to take lots of common sense, maybe some professional therapists who specialize in emotional trauma, and definitely lots of alcohol and weed. Well, maybe the latter. But speaking of weed and alcohol, people packed bars to watch the testimony. And the famous DC Bar in Washington DC was selling a “Covfefe Cocktail”:

Forget summer blockbuster movies — the biggest show in town Thursday will be the testimony before a Senate committee of former FBI director James B. Comey.

For proof, see the handful of Washington bars opening early and/or offering specials in honor of the potentially fireworks-laden event. (Also, what does it say about our collective mood that we need cocktails to get through it? Okay, drink every time anyone says “Putin”!)

Shaw’s Tavern is opening at 9:30 a.m., in time for pregaming before the Senate Intel Committee convenes at 10 a.m., for what it’s calling the “Comey Hearing Covfefe,” borrowing the term from President Trump’s cryptic tweet. All five of the bar’s TVs will be airing the main event, and vodkas are five bucks (morning, sunshine!).

Duffy’s Irish Pub on Vermont Avenue NW is usually a draw for Washington Nationals fans, but Thursday, the 15 screens will be on C-SPAN, not ESPN. The contents of the featured “Covfefe Cocktail” is as murky as the White House’s Russia controversy: the hangout promises it’s “like drinking the Kool Aid but only a small group of people know what’s in it.” The “small group of people” reference comes from White House press secretary Sean Spicer’s explanation of said Trump tweet.
https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/reliable-source/wp/2017/06/06/fired-fbi-director-comey-is-testifying-and-washington-needs-a-drink/?utm_term=.b1941b522474

Ooh I like that one. By the way, we made the Covfefe cocktail and it’s quite a drink. But you know Trump dropped a bombshell that might force his Attorney General Casper The Friendly Ghost to testify before a senate committee now:

Donald Trump didn’t just accuse James Comey of lying to the public; the president also argued his new nemesis lied to Congress while under oath. That’s no small charge: when a sitting president effectively says the former director of the FBI committed perjury, it requires some follow-up.

More specifically, it requires that president to back up those allegations in some meaningful way. In this case, that means Trump could deliver his own sworn testimony, which the president has said he’s prepared to do. On CBS News’ “Face the Nation” yesterday, Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) said, “I would like to invite the president to testify before the Senate. I think we could work out a way it could be dignified, public, with questions, with [Senate Majority Leader Mitch] McConnell.”

Trump could also, meanwhile, turn over White House recordings of the president’s conversations – if they exist. Asked about the possibility of such tapes, Trump told reporters on Friday, “Well, I’ll tell you about that maybe sometime in the very near future.” What that means is anybody’s guess. (A day earlier, a White House spokesperson, asked if such recordings have been made, replied, “I have no idea.”)
http://www.msnbc.com/rachel-maddow-show/trump-faces-put-or-shut-moment-over-possible-secret-tapes

But guess what? Trump may have crossed a line calling his son “cowardly”.

ALLENDALE, N.J. — Maybe this was bound to happen.

James Comey came back to his hometown of Allendale in northern Bergen County for a weekend visit with his elderly father and a much-needed escape from the rhetorical tumult of Washington and President Trump’s allegation that he lied in his recent testimony before a Senate committee investigating possible Russian meddling in last year’s presidential election.

But Trump was in New Jersey, too — and he had no intention of staying quiet during his own weekend at the golf club that bears his name, some 50 miles away from Allendale in Bedminster.

What unfolded on Sunday was yet another example of the disjointed political maelstrom that has enveloped the nation in recent weeks as Trump has harshly criticized allegations that Russian intelligence operatives meddled in the 2016 presidential election — and a widening federal investigation that some Trump staffers may have colluded with the Russians.

By the way in case things couldn’t get any worse, his favorite child and woman he would marry upon divorcing Melania, Ivanka Trump made the case as to why you should hate rich kids. And we might need the Sad Hulk Music for this one:

&t=6s

Ivanka Trump on Monday said she is surprised by the "level of viciousness" she has seen so far during her father's presidency.

"There is a level of viciousness that I was not expecting," she said during an interview on "Fox & Friends" when asked whether it is harder than she thought to focus on the things she wants to do.

"I was not expecting the intensity of this experience but this isn't supposed to be easy."

Trump said her father and his administration "intends to be transformative."

"And we want to do big, bold things and we're looking to change the status quo," she said.

"So I didn't expect it to be easy. I think some of the distractions and some of the ferocity was, I was a little blindsided by at a personal level."
http://thehill.com/homenews/administration/337374-ivanka-trump-was-not-expecting-level-of-viciousness

By the way – we here at the Top 10 Conservative Idiots, in our home office in Anaheim, are paying tribute to Pride Month here in June. One person who made a half assed effort to do so, is of course, our half assed president:

President Donald Trump paid tribute Monday to the 49 people who lost their lives at the gay nightclub Pulse a year ago in what was the deadliest mass shooting in United States history. But missing from his tweet was any mention of the LGBTQ community targeted in the Orlando, Florida, attack.

“We will NEVER FORGET the victims who lost their lives one year ago today in the horrific #PulseNightClub shooting. #OrlandoUnitedDay,” he tweeted.

The message was a contrast to other commemorations of those who were killed by Omar Mateen, who pledged allegiance to the Islamic State group (ISIS). According to his father, Mateen committed the atrocity after becoming enraged at the sight of two men kissing.

“My heart is with the loved ones of the 49 people killed at Pulse, the city of Orlando, & the LGBT community,” read a tweet from Trump’s 2016 election rival Hillary Clinton. “#WeWillNotLetHateWin.”

That’s what we would call a swing and a miss. Now juxtapose that with what he said last year and you get a strikeout:

Trump, the presumptive Republican nominee, said Obama was far too timid in his White House appearance. Trump called on Obama to step down from the presidency and challenged Clinton to ratchet up her language about terror threats.

"President Obama disgracefully refused to even say the words 'Radical Islam,'" Trump said in the statement. "For that reason alone, he should step down. If Hillary Clinton, after this attack, still cannot say the two words 'Radical Islam' she should get out of this race for the Presidency."

Trump's campaign canceled a planned rally Monday in Portsmouth, New Hampshire, "due to the horrific tragedy that has just taken place in Orlando, Florida," a campaign statement said. But the candidate will pivot the focus of a scheduled Granite State speech the same day. The speech will no longer focus on what Trump has called a litany of scandals involving Bill and Hillary Clinton. Now, according to a Trump campaign statement, it will "address this terrorist attack, immigration, and national security."

Trump initially responded to news of the shooting through a series of tweets, including one that noted his early condemnation of radical Islam.

"Appreciate the congrats for being right on radical Islamic terrorism, I don't want congrats, I want toughness & vigilance. We must be smart!"

By the way, anyone else care that Trump is reiterating his “fake news” stance this week?

Funny because this is the guy who, um, apologizes for nothing, ever no matter what he does or who he hurts! And is it me or does the presidential motorcade look like a penis?

But the last Trump item we need to touch on this week – is that he crashed a wedding at his golf course in New Jersey, and *OF COURSE* he made it about himself. He’s Donald Trump – wedding crasher!
Branchburg, New Jersey (CNN)Kristen Piatkowski and Tucker Gladhill got a big surprise at their wedding reception late Saturday night: a visit from President Donald Trump.
The President dropped in at about 10:30 p.m. ET, hours into the reception, which was being held at Trump National Golf Club in Bedminster Township, New Jersey, according to someone who was in the room.
Guests were unaware that Trump, who stayed at the club this weekend, was stopping by until Secret Service agents came into the room minutes before his arrival to clear the way and make sure guests wouldn't surround him, the source said.

Trump’s sons Uday and Qusay are proof that the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree. Well, what was Qusay Trump up to this week? You know let’s roll the tape on this.

Yeah BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!! So here’s what happened in full detail – Eric Trump may or may not have flirted with one of the stages of genocide. Which is a very fucking scary thought. I think even some republicans were horrified by Eric’s statements.

Washington (CNN)Eric Trump said Democrats who support the probe into his father's campaign and Russia are "not even people" and he has "never seen hatred like this."
He also shared harsh criticism of the Democratic Party as a whole.
"They're imploding," Trump told Fox News' Sean Hannity Tuesday night, adding: "They have no message. You see the head of the (Democratic National Committee), who is a total whack job."

Trump's "not even people" remark quickly evoked comparisons on social media to Hillary Clinton's "basket of deplorables" comment made about President Trump's supporters during the 2016 campaign.
http://www.cnn.com/2017/06/07/politics/eric-trump-hannity-democrats-obstruction/index.html

Yeah BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!! Yes, Eric Trump does suck. As if he wasn’t already the worst person in the world this week, what could he possibly be under investigation for that prompted that horrifying statement?

New York Attorney General Eric Schneiderman is “looking into” a charitable foundation founded by Eric Trump, a spokesman for Schneiderman said, after Forbes magazine raised questions about whether President Trump's son had made misleading statements about how the foundation spent its money.

The New York attorney general has jurisdiction over charities in the state, where Eric Trump's foundation is registered. Schneiderman's office would say little about this new inquiry, other than to report that it was at an early stage and could not be considered a formal investigation.

“The attorney general's office is looking into issues at the Eric Trump Foundation raised by the Forbes report,” said spokesman Eric Soufer in a written statement.
https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/post-politics/wp/2017/06/09/n-y-attorney-general-looking-into-eric-trumps-foundation/?utm_term=.56ffd77404f8

I like that one! So what could Eric Trump be under investigation for, I wonder?

New York's attorney general is looking into a report that the Eric Trump Foundation funneled more than $1 million from charity golf tournaments into President Donald Trump's business, a spokesman for the attorney general said on Friday.

Forbes magazine reported this week that the charity run by Eric Trump, the president's second-oldest son, paid the Trump Organization to use its properties for charity events in recent years even though Eric Trump had told donors that the golf course and other assets were being used for free, so that just about all the money donated would help sick children.

Forbes reported that based on filings from the Eric Trump Foundation and other charities, more than $1.2 million "has no documented recipients past the Trump Organization."

Eric Soufer, a spokesman for New York Attorney General Eric Schneiderman, said in an email that his office was looking into issues raised by the Forbes story.
http://www.cnbc.com/2017/06/10/new-york-attorney-general-looking-at-eric-trump-charitys-payouts.html

I could picture Eric Trump doing that. Yeah he stole money from a children’s cancer charity. Let me reiterate that – he stole money from a fucking children’s cancer charity and is now saying that democrats probing his non existent ethics are the bad guy. Hey Eric, you might want to read up on the stages of genocide for a minute and let it sink in for a minute.

Dehumanization
Classification and symbolization are fundamental operations in all cultures. They become steps
of genocide only when combined with dehumanization. Denial of the humani
ty of others is the
step that permits killing with impunity. The universal human abhorrence of murder of members
of one's own group is overcome by treating the victims as less than human. In incitements to
genocide the target groups are called disgusting a
nimal names
-
Nazi propaganda called Jews
"rats" or "vermin"; Rwandan Hutu hate radio referred to Tutsis as "cockroaches." The targeted
group is often likened to a “disease”, “microbes”, “infections” or a “cancer” in the body politic.
Bodies of genocide v
ictims are often mutilated to express this denial of humanity. Such atrocities
then become the justification for revenge killings, because they are evidence that the killers must
be monsters, not human beings themselves.

And in case you’re wondering if the GOP is getting any more desperate for votes and that the Trump Train has soiled the GOP brand, I give you this – a guy running for governor in Virginia was literally asking Eric Trump if he could get a retweet up in this piece:

A GOP candidate in the Virginia gubernatorial race asked Eric Trump “for a retweet” Saturday.

Corey Stewart, who is running in the Republican primary in the race, retweeted a message asking people to vote for him and added: “[Eric Trump] can I get a retweet?”

Time once again to ask:

This week: US Sharia Law protestors, how are they still a thing? If they need a refresher course on the 1st amendment – something they should probably read the next time they make a ridiculous claim about religion, well, here is the full context of the first amendment:

That said there were massive protests held across the country against Sharia Law. Now you might be thinking “massive”? Well, here’s a picture from the Women’s March held after inauguration day:

And now here’s a picture from the “March Against Sharia” held this very Saturday:

What’s not pictured here: Patriots. So here’s more on the subject:

Saturday's nationwide "March Against Sharia," sponsored by a group known for aggressively criticizing Islam, has in recent days become a rallying cause for right-wing extremists, forcing march organizers to repudiate some of their own supporters and prompting concern about clashes with militant leftists.

The marches, due to be held in at least 19 states, are being coordinated by ACT for America, a conservative grass-roots organization that calls itself "the NRA of national security." The group has a long history of opposing Sharia, which is a legal or philosophical code derived from Islamic scripture and meant to guide the behavior of observant Muslims.
http://www.npr.org/2017/06/10/532254891/march-against-sharia-planned-across-the-u-s

That being said, with friends like these who needs enemies? In fact here are some of the highlights, er, lowlights of the March Against Sharia, courtesy of Hatewatch:

This sign might be the most accurate thing about this POS rally.

When Identity Europa is on your side, you don’t want to be right.

Same goes for this guy.

A guy wearing an American flag suit holding a Nazi flag. Does this qualify as desecration of the flag? And then there’s these douchebags:

Yes that’s Georgia State Senator Michael Williams posing with extremist group III%. And what kind of anti government group needs a chain gun rifle? WTF? And then there’s neo Nazis:

And then these douchebags who can’t even get the laws right:

So for those of you keeping score at home, the people attending the March Against Sharia are nothing more than Cucks, Keks, and Reality Winners. Even the media is wrong about American white supremacy and its’ spread, which we saw a lot of this weekend, even more if you see the Twittersphere:

White supremacist terror is at the top of people’s minds after a white supremacist stabbed and killed two men who were defending two young black women, one in a hijab, from his bigoted rant in Portland, Oregon, last month.

The incident attracted widespread media coverage, which in turn drew criticism from many people on Twitter who denounced news outlets for not labeling the attack as terrorism.

There’s a familiar double standard in how the media treats violence by white supremacists versus violence by Islamist extremists. It’s time to get it right.

HuffPost spoke to two experts ― Farai Chideya, a journalist who has been reporting on white nationalism for more than 25 years, and Heidi Beirich, the head of the Southern Poverty Law Center’s Intelligence Project, who has been studying white extremist groups since 1999 ― to discuss the problem of white supremacist hate today, and how the media can do a better job covering it.

And then there was this guy who was probably at the March Against Sharia this last weekend:

ORLANDO (FOX 13) - An Orlando home is where Brandon Russell will be spending all of his time while he awaits trial on explosives charges.

Federal Judge Thomas McCoun granted bond for Russell Friday, writing there was no clear and convincing evidence "the defendant represents a threat to any person or community."

Last month, cops found bomb-making material, weapons, and ammo in the garage of his Tampa Palms apartment. On his bedroom dresser, a framed picture of Oklahoma City bomber Timothy McVeigh. On his computer, Nazi and white supremacist propaganda.

The 21-year-old, who is a member of the Florida National Guard, admitted to being a neo-Nazi sympathizer, and to making explosives materials.

Oh and the Seattle March Against Sharia ended with a fight:

SEATTLE - It came at the end of the formal march and rally for both sides. ACT for America supporters and those who oppose them suddenly raised their fists. But almost as quickly, it was over.

The incident was halted when Seattle police doused them in pepper spray.

A few feet away, a swarm of officers surrounded two men and a woman and handcuffed them. All three were arrested for obstruction.

Both groups began the demonstration peacefully. Hundreds gathered in Occidental Park for a counter-demonstration to show support for Muslim Americans.

And just remember my fair March Against Sharia protestors, when this guy is on your side, you don’t want to be right either:

On Thursday, Rep. Dana Rohrabacher (R-CA) praised the recent Islamic State attack in Tehran as a “good thing” and suggested that maybe the United States should work with the militant organization.

Rohrabacher’s entire line of reasoning for why the United States should work with a militant group accused of human rights violations and war crimes like ethnic cleansing is astonishing. Here it is verbatim:

“We have recently seen an attack on Iran, and the Iranian government, the mullahs, believe that Sunni forces have attacked them. This may signal a ratcheting up of certain commitments by the United States of America. As far as I’m concerned, I just want to make this point and see what you think, isn’t it a good thing for us to have the United States finally backing up Sunnis who will attack Hezbollah and the Shiite threat to us? Isn’t that a good thing? And if so, maybe this is a Trump — maybe it’s a Trump strategy of actually supporting one group against another, considering that you have two terrorist organizations.”
https://thinkprogress.org/republican-congressman-calls-isis-attack-in-tehran-a-good-thing-says-maybe-we-should-back-isis-a7e9382dbe1b

Yes, that’s UNITED STATES REPUBLICAN CONGRESSMAN DANA ROHRABACHER advocating that the US should work with Isis. That’s enough to make you ask – US Sharia Law protestors:

John McCain
[br]
[br]

Well there’s excuses and then there’s John McCain’s excuse. Just… this is delving from old man territory into full on Clint Eastwood in Gran Torino “Get Off My Lawn” crazy old man territory. And you know what? We’ve got video of it! Let’s roll the tape before we begin discussing.

Yeah McCain’s testimony was completely incoherent! So what was McCain talking about? Well there’s lots of theories.

(CNN)The strangest moment of the nearly three-hour Senate intelligence committee hearing featuring testimony from fired FBI Director James Comey came at the very end. And it came courtesy of a somewhat-unlikely source: Arizona Sen. John McCain.
Odd because McCain isn't actually on the Senate intelligence committee. But because he is the chairman of the Armed Services Committee, he -- as well as Democratic Sen. Jack Reed of Rhode Island, the ranking member on Armed Services -- gets ex officio status and can ask questions.
And, whoa boy, did McCain ask some questions. (At 356 seconds, he talked the second-most among all senators -- only Chairman Richard Burr used more speaking time.)
Here's the start of McCain's exchange with Co.
http://www.cnn.com/2017/06/08/politics/john-mccain-comey/index.html

Whew, John McCain, keep doing what you’re doing. That was… that was magical. But there’s no excuse you might say? Well there was an excuse – and I shit you not, I am not making this up.

McCain appeared to mix up Comey’s long-done Hillary Clinton email server investigation with the ongoing probe into potential Russian meddling in the U.S. Presidential election. Comey himself was confused, as was the majority of the viewing public, and it prompted McCain to issue a statement afterward with an excuse any sports fan can relate to.
“I get the sense from Twitter that my line of questioning today went over people’s heads,” McCain’s statement read. “Maybe going forward I shouldn’t stay up late watching the Diamondbacks night games.”

McCain’s story checks out. The 36-25 Diamondbacks were indeed playing the Padres late Wednesday night, in a game that didn’t start until 9:40 p.m. in Washington, D.C., and lasted until nearly 1:30 Thursday morning Eastern time.

At least McCain, if he is to be believed, saw a winner. Arizona won 7-4, and is tied with the Dodgers for the top National League wild-card spot, just two games off the NL West lead. Can’t blame him for wanting to stick it out.
http://www.foxsports.com/mlb/story/john-mccain-james-comey-diamondbacks-strange-questions-060817

Wait what’s that??? Quick, Robin to the Trump Mobile!!! That was a real excuse? Let’s figure it out!

Yes. This was an actual excuse from an elected official. He gave incoherent testimony because he was up all night watching Arizona Diamondbacks games! To which the Arizona Diamondbacks themselves simply responded:

Excuse me a minute…

I nearly spit out my Covfefe Cocktail for a minute. So what kind of things was McCain alluding to? well there was this.

Sen. John McCain saw shades of dystopia during a hearing Wednesday.

The Arizona Republican said that Director of National Intelligence Dan Coats' refusal to go into detail about a conversation already reported in The Washington Post "shows what kind of an Orwellian existence that we live in."

"I mean, it's detailed, as you know from reading the story, when you met, what you discussed, et cetera, et cetera. And yet, here in a public hearing before the American people, we can't talk about what was described in detail in this morning's Washington Post," McCain asked at the Senate Intelligence Committee hearing.

In the late 1940s, British author George Orwell wrote "1984," in which people use a government-issued language called "newspeak" that's designed to limit freedom of thought.
http://www.cnbc.com/2017/06/07/john-mccain-at-senate-hearing-were-living-an-orwellian-existence.html

Yes – Orwell. Of course America is in a constant state of surveillance and we may or may not have reached the point of fake news burning yet. But the good news is that there’s more sane, rational Americans than there are Trump supporters. At least McCain is man enough to admit it.

America’s reputation on the world stage has dived since President Donald Trump took office from Barack Obama, Senator John McCain declared over the weekend, laying into the leadership of Trump and his team.

The Guardian asked the Republican senator from Arizona what he thought of Trump’s foreign policy, including his erratic tweeting and an ongoing feud with London’s mayor, Sadiq Khan, who is Muslim. Following the London Bridge attack on June 3, which left eight dead and dozens injured, Trump had tweeted that Khan’s response was “pathetic.” McCain was apparently "visibly irked" when asked what message he thought the American president was sending to Britain.

“What do you think the message is?” McCain told The Guardian. “The message is that America doesn’t want to lead.” The entire world is now left wondering as to America’s role in global affairs, he suggested. “They are not sure of American leadership, whether it be in Siberia or whether it be in Antarctica.”

Evergreen College
[br]
[br]

This is a serious case of “what the fuck is going on?”. And you know the first rule of debating is that when you’re in a hole, the first thing to do is to stop digging. Yeah and that’s exactly the pickle that Evergreen College has got themselves into lately over a bizarre back and forth case of racism that has nearly shut the whole damn school down. Well before we go any further let’s trace a few steps back.

I’ve been shocked by events at The Evergreen State College. Professor Bret Weinstein was harassed for progressive comments on changes to the college’s policies toward racial equity.

A mob of students interrupted his course to protest comments critical of the “Day of Absence, Day of Presence” requesting white students and professors leave the campus. Students threatened Weinstein seemingly without repercussions.

Evergreen president George Bridges failed to protect the general well-being of professors and students on his campus. Bridges then capitulated to the demands of the small, aggressive student group, setting a dangerous precedent for settling conflicts on college campuses.
http://www.seattletimes.com/opinion/letters-to-the-editor/the-evergreen-state-college-readers-weigh-in/

Yeah so a teacher questioned one particular aspect of the school’s racial policy in a classroom. That probably should not have been done in public. Well it was and what has followed in the last three weeks has been well, a category 5 shit storm. Believe me it’s not pleasant at Evergreen College because this happened.

The Evergreen State College closed again Monday, the second time in days that security concerns led college officials to shut down a campus that has gotten national attention after protests over race.

The school in Olympia, Wash., shut down abruptly Thursday after receiving a threat, remained closed Friday, and reopened Saturday after law enforcement had thoroughly searched the campus.

Last week, someone called the county 911 line and told the dispatch officer, “Yes, I am on my way to Evergreen now with a .44 Magnum. … I am going to execute as many people on that campus as I can get a hold of. You have that, what’s going on here, you communist scumbag?”

The school announced that the campus would be closed “while law enforcement officials review new external threat information received over the weekend.” A school spokeswoman, Sandra Kaiser, declined to provide details about the additional information from the weekend. She said the closure was precautionary to give law enforcement time to review information from the weekend and that the school has been told that there was no active threat.
https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/grade-point/wp/2017/06/05/college-closed-for-third-day-concerned-about-threat-after-protests-over-race/?utm_term=.4f667d671eb6

Holy fuck!!!! Someone with a gun actually plotted to carry out a death threat! I mean Jesus, not only did the school dig themselves into a hole, they dug past the lowest point on earth and are heading straight for the Earth’s core by now. Oh and after the threat classes did resume:

Evergreen State College resumed a normal schedule on Tuesday morning after several tumultuous days involving violent threats and vandalism that forced the public college to shut down.

The college in Olympia, Wash., suspended operations on Thursday after emergency operators received a call from a person claiming to be armed and driving to the Evergreen State College campus, threatening to "execute as many people on that campus as I can get ahold of."

While law enforcement officials searched the campus and found no credible threat related to the call, an incident of vandalism on Sunday night led to $10,000 in property damage, according to the county sheriff's office.
http://time.com/4807225/evergreen-state-college-violence-vandalism-threat/

What kind of vandalism must you commit when it’s estimated to be $10,000 in property damage? This is getting worse the more you dig into it! Never mind that there’s armed, wannabe Rambo douchebags patrolling the campus halls:

The bats must be put away immediately’

An official at Evergreen State College sent a memo to students Sunday asking an apparent group of campus vigilantes who have taken to patrolling the grounds armed with bats or batons to end the practice, according to an email forwarded to The College Fix.

The email was from Vice President for Student Affairs Wendy Endress, who in her memo addressed to “colleagues” included the message sent to students Sunday by Sharon Goodman, director of Evergreen’s Residential and Dining Service, or RAD, asking the “community patrol” to lay down its weapons.

The Olympia, Wash.-based campus is closed today due to an unspecified “external threat”; it was also closed for nearly two days last week due to a “direct threat to campus safety.”

We’ll definitely keep an eye on this situation but the shit has definitely hit the fan at Evergreen College.

Jeff Sessions
[br]
[br]

We were originally going to talk about the British elections – which are pretty batshit fucking crazy in their own right, but we’ll save that for when we get to England as part of our World Tour 2017, but we have got to talk about Jeff Sessions. Holy shit, as if the Trump administration couldn’t get any crazier, Attorney General Casper The Friendly Ghost was questioned on Capitol Hill this week. Let’s roll the tape first and then let’s discuss.

Dude, did he just get the vapors? Is he a southern dame? Yeah there’s always that. ”Oh I do declare that there was no involvement in the collusion with allowing Russia to hack our voting machines, good sir!”. I mean could this get any weirder? I want some of whatever the GOP is smoking, and it must be some pretty strong shit.

Attorney General Jeff Sessions is asking congressional leaders to undo federal medical marijuana protections that have been in place since 2014, according to a May letter that became public Monday.

The protections, known as the Rohrabacher-Farr amendment, prohibit the Justice Department from using federal funds to prevent certain states "from implementing their own State laws that authorize the use, distribution, possession or cultivation of medical marijuana."

In his letter, first obtained by Tom Angell of Massroots.com and verified independently by The Washington Post, Sessions argued that the amendment would "inhibit authority to enforce the Controlled Substances Act." He continues:

I believe it would be unwise for Congress to restrict the discretion of the Department to fund particular prosecutions, particularly in the midst of an historic drug epidemic and potentially long-term uptick in violent crime. The Department must be in a position to use all laws available to combat the transnational drug organizations and dangerous drug traffickers who threaten American lives.
https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/wonk/wp/2017/06/13/jeff-sessions-personally-asked-congress-to-let-him-prosecute-medical-marijuana-providers/?utm_term=.717a318fb879

But seriously, I want some of whatever they’re smoking. Hey man, don’t Beauregard that joint, my friend! Thank you! So what else happened?

Attorney General Jeff Sessions recused himself from the Russia investigation. “During the course of the last several weeks, I have met with the relevant senior career Department officials to discuss whether I should recuse myself from any matters arising from the campaigns for president of the United States,” he said in his written recusal released on March 2. “Having concluded those meetings today, I have decided to recuse myself from any existing or future investigations of any matters related in any way to the campaigns for President of the United States.”

Any existing or future investigations. Related in any way.

Sessions consulted with the president and coordinated the firing of James Comey. Recall that Comey had testified on March 20 that he was heading the Russia investigation:

I’ve been authorized by the Department of Justice to confirm that the FBI, as part of our counterintelligence mission, is investigating the Russian government’s efforts to interfere in the 2016 presidential election. That includes investigating the nature of any links between individuals associated with the Trump campaign and the Russian government, and whether there was any coordination between the campaign and Russia’s efforts. As with any counterintelligence investigation, this will also include an assessment of whether any crimes were committed. Because it is an open, ongoing investigation, and is classified, I cannot say more about what we are doing and whose conduct we are examining.
https://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/right-turn/wp/2017/05/11/jeff-sessions-is-in-deep-trouble-and-heres-why/?utm_term=.00b3f6be5737

Dude, you cant just recuse yourself and get a “get out of jail free” card. Do not pass go, do not collect $200. I mean seriously these people lie like it’s a bodily function. I mean remember during the Bill Clinton impeachment hearings when they accused Clinton of lying? Well, the Clintons got nothing on Trump and his gang. I mean shit, these guys lie the way Sterling Archer drinks.

Senators on Tuesday grilled Attorney General Jeff Sessions during a Senate intel committee hearing for refusing to discuss his conversations with President Donald Trump.

“The American people have had it with stonewalling,” Sen. Ron Wyden (D-Ore.) said. “Americans don’t want to hear that the answers to relevant questions are privileged and off limits or that they can’t be provided in public, or that it would be ‘inappropriate’ for witnesses to tell us what they know.”

“General Sessions has acknowledged that there is no legal basis for this stonewalling,” the senator added.

“Sen. Wyden, I am not stonewalling,” Sessions pushed back. “I am following the historic policies of the Department of Justice.”

Sessions grew visibly angry when the Oregon senator then suggested there may be troublesome factors behind his recusal from the Russian interference investigation.
http://www.motherjones.com/politics/2017/06/jeff-sessions-senate-hearing-russia-stonewalling/

I love that show. Maybe the reason these guys lie so much is that if the hangover they got from actually telling the truth was so bad it would kill them? Just saying. So I mean this was an overall absolutely terrible pick for Attorney General, we can all agree there, right?

Attorney General Jeff Sessions offered an aggressive defense of his conduct surrounding the Russia investigation on Tuesday, but his repeated refusal to answer questions based on a vague reference to executive privilege will likely prolong the congressional effort to understand what preceded former FBI Director James Comey’s controversial ouster last month.

The former Alabama senator offered little to rebuff allegations from Democrats that there’s too much smoke around Comey’s firing and the Russia investigation for there to be no fire. Nor did his replies firmly clear up questions about his own contacts with Russian officials.
https://www.theatlantic.com/politics/archive/2017/06/jeff-sessions-senate-testimony/530154/

And in case you’re wondering how toxic it is to be associated with Trump, Jeff Sessions definitely isn’t helping things. I mean seriously – Trump created a perpetual motion machine of incompetence – every single person he’s hired couldn’t be more grossly incompetent than the last, and the few competent people? He actually did fire them. There’s always this.

Attorney General Jeff Sessions repeatedly refused to answer questions from senators Tuesday about his private conversations with President Trump, including whether he spoke to Trump about former FBI director James B. Comey’s handling of the investigation into possible coordination between the Trump campaign and Russia during the 2016 presidential race.

In a number of testy exchanges with members of the Senate Intelligence Committee, Sessions said he would not answer many of their questions because of a long-standing Justice Department policy that he said protects private conversations between Cabinet secretaries and the president.

This F**king Guy
[br]
[br]

Ladies and gentlemen it’s time to debut a new segment on our show! OK I kind of stole it from the Jim Jeffries Show, and I’ll admit it. But we love Jim Jeffries here. So the new title of the segment is going to be called:

Yes, this fucking guy. And this week’s honorary recipient of the “This Fucking Guy” award goes to none other than Pat Robertson. You know in the wake of the horrifying terror attacks in London and Manchester last week, Pat Robertson did that thing that republican Jesus would do, and that is telling the victims of a recent terrorist bombing that they deserved it:

Today on “The 700 Club,” Pat Robertson interviewed Christian Broadcasting Network reporter Dale Hurd about the recent terrorist attacks in the United Kingdom.
Hurd speculated that “someone at a higher level in the British government is stopping enforcement” of anti-terrorism laws, which prompted Robertson to wonder if there is “a plot of some kind” to aid terrorists.

The two then went after the left for supposedly being soft on Islam and immigration.
“The left talks as if more people are going to have to die before something’s done, because political correctness is so important to them—it’s a core fath for them,” Hurd said.
http://www.rightwingwatch.org/post/pat-robertson-maybe-british-people-want-to-die/

Yeah BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!! Hey fuck you, Pat. This isn’t whether or not someone is PC. We don’t give a shit. The correct question is – how many people are going to die before the right thing is done because we’re sick of this shit??? Thank you! We don’t want to die, and we don’t give a crap about these monsters. Terrorism is terrorism and the sooner it’s stopped the better. But blowing the shit out of a country isn’t the way to do this. As if that wasn’t bad enough, then there’s this fucking guy – Theodore Shoebat, who said this about the terror attacks in London:

Extremist anti-LGBTQ activist Theodore Shoebat posted a video on his website reacting to the terrorist attack at an Ariana Grande concert in Manchester, England last night in which 22 people were killed. Shoebat, who was featured in a radically anti-gay documentary in 2015 along with various Religious Right activists and Republican elected officials, declared that he has no sympathy for those who were killed or injured because they are all “sodomites-lovers” and “sluts.”

“I really have no sympathy for these people,” he said. “The people who died, the people who were injured, the people who were scared out of their minds, who ran away , I really don’t care. The types of people who go to these concerts are the same types of people who are responsible for the degeneracy that you see in society.”

“They go to these concerts dressed up as whores, dressed up as sluts, they’re pro-sodomite, they’re pro-divorce, they’re pro-infidelity,” Shoebat said. “They want evil, they want decay, they want sodomy, they want Sodom and Gomorrah.”

Shoebat then showed photos of “some sodomite lover” who was injured in the bombing as he declared that Ariana Grande “is a nasty, evil woman.”

http://www.rightwingwatch.org/post/theodore-shoebat-victims-of-manchester-bombing-were-pro-sodomite-sluts-and-whores/

Yeah BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!! And “some sodomite lover”? how does he know if this person is a “sodomite lover”? You know I don’t have any sympathy for people like Theodore Shoebat who judge others from their ivory keyboards, how about that? Oh and fuck you by the way! Theodore Shoebat has also said some very batshit crazy stuff like this. I mean he's the Lamar Ball of the Christian right:

By the way, do I need to point out the irony of such a homophobic POS like Shoebat wearing a San Francisco Giants shirt? San Francisco - a city that is commonly associated with having the highest populations of LGBT Americans in the country? Really do I need to point that out? I thought Jesus said “love everybody” and the Bible had that rule that said “Do unto others as they would have do unto you”. If “do unto others” means “beat the shit out of people for just being themselves”, I will tell you who deserves that more! And it’s not the gay guy walking his dog down the street. And as if religious crazy people couldn’t get any more batshit crazy than this fucking guy, there’s this fucking guy – Jerry Falwell, Jr. who Trump wants to put on a “task force” to “reform eduction”, which I guess means putting Bibles in every desk that kids won’t read?

Jerry L. Falwell Jr., the president of Liberty University, will be part of a White House task force, an official from the White House told The Chronicle on Sunday.

The news is the first official comment from the White House on the topic since Mr. Falwell told The Chronicle in January that President Trump and others in his inner circle had asked him to head up a task force on reforming regulations related to higher education.

Even so, information on the task force’s role, membership, purview, and timing is still scant.

"We are working on a task force that Jerry Falwell will be involved with," was all the official would say on the topic for now. He is someone who was authorized by the White House to speak on the subject but not be named.
http://www.chronicle.com/article/A-Task-Force-With-Falwell-Is/240315

You know with friends like these, who needs enemies? I mean the religious right is out of control right now and if they repeal the Johnson Amendment – it’s the last thing keeping this country from sliding into fascist religious totalitarian rule, you have people like Pat Robertson, Theodore Shoebat, and Jerry Falwell Jr at the helm. And that’s a scary thought. That is why they’re this week’s nominations for:

[div style="padding: 20px; background-color: #ffffff; border-radius: 10px; box-shadow: 0px 2px 4px 1px #aaa;"][div style="font-family: arial, helvetica; font-weight: bold; border-bottom: 1px dotted #999; padding-bottom: 8px;"]
You Probably Shouldn’t Have Done That
[br]
[br]

So we have a new feature that we’re going to debut on the Top 10 and it’s not one that we’ve stolen, er, borrowed from other talk shows! Can we get the graphic cued up?

That was pretty much an example of “let’s create the most obnoxious font we can!”. So here’s how this is going to work. I’m going to pull an event or two from the news and say “You probably shouldn’t have done that”. Kathy Griffin and Bill Maher both would have made great subjects for this. But this week, who does that award go to? Why it’s Megyn Kelly.

Megyn Kelly, the new star of NBC on Sunday nights, is off to a less-than-compelling start as she now gears the country up for “controversies and conspiracies” in her interview with the far-right InfoWars host Alex Jones. One of his most disgusting conspiracy theories was that the Sandy Hook shooting was actually a hoax, and a mother who lost her child in the tragedy is speaking out against the interview.

In a series of tweets Nelba Marquez-Greene, a mother who lost her daughter in the shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting in 2012, expressed her disgust for Kelly’s substandard journalistic behavior.
http://www.salon.com/2017/06/12/megyn-kellys-plan-to-interview-alex-jones-angers-sandy-hook-shooting-victims-parents/

Yeah Megyn Kelly, you probably shouldn’t have done that, and there’s many reasons that I could point out, most namely the fact that you’re giving Alex Jones a national platform to spew his Sandy Hook denying bullshit! Which he did!

Families from one of the US’s most notorious school shootings have reacted with outcry after NBC broadcast an interview with a leading conspiracy theorist who said the incident never happened and that parents faked their children's deaths.

Alex Jones, host of the Infowars, has claimed over the years that the US government was involved in the 1995 Oklahoma City bombing and the attacks of 9/11. He also said the 2012 mass shooting at Sandy Hook that left 26 people dead, including 20 children, never happened.

Mr Jones has now repeated his comments, including about what he says never happened at the elementary school in Connecticut, in an interview to NBC’s Megyn Kelly. Ms Kelly, who earlier this year quit Fox News, started by asking him if he was the most paranoid person in the country.

http://images.memes.com/meme/721106

Which should not be used as a source on anything because he even went and further tripled down on the crazy! Yeah it’s his channel but can we roll the tape on that?

Holy fuck!!!! Alex is off his rocker. And that’s about the nicest thing we can say about that video. I mean seriously… holy shit. Is he in love with Megyn Kelly? Did he think this was a Tinder date? I mean he’s certifiably insane. He can spew his conspiracy theory crap behind padded walls! Then there’s one more thing that we want to cover on this week’s edition of:

The other item this week: this off Broadway theater in New York City. The right wing outrage machine was at it again because there was a Shakesphere in the Park production of Julius Caesar that may have included a character representing Donald Trump, our current president.

For decades, conservatives have darkly warned that failing to teach the Western canon of literature to students — that deeming books and plays by dead white guys irrelevant to today’s concerns — would lead to disastrous consequences.

Last weekend, they proved their own point.

For its annual Shakespeare in the Park program, New York City’s Public Theater has mounted a production of William Shakespeare’s 1599 play Julius Caesar in Central Park — a play that, among other things, strongly warns those who commit political violence, even in service of their country, about the futility of their actions.

The production began previews on May 23, and its opening night is Monday, June 12. But over the weekend, it was met with conservative outrage, followed by the cancellation of two corporate sponsorships.

It all comes down to one key creative decision: namely, portraying Julius Caesar as Donald Trump.
https://www.vox.com/culture/2017/6/12/15780692/julius-caesar-shakespeare-in-park-trump-public-theater-outrage

Yeah you probably shouldn’t have done that, because this happened.

Delta Air Lines said it is withdrawing its sponsorship of New York’s Public Theater over a production of Julius Caesar with allusions to President Donald Trump.

The production scheduled to start Monday “depicts the assassination of a Trump-like Roman ruler,” according to the New York Times, and sponsors have faced criticism online and from some media outlets.

“No matter what your political stance may be, the graphic staging of Julius Caesar at this summer’s Free Shakespeare in the Park does not reflect Delta Air Lines’ values,” Atlanta-based Delta said in a written statement. “Their artistic and creative direction crossed the line on the standards of good taste. Bank of America also released a statement saying it was withdrawing its funding for the production.

Part of our mission statement here at the Top 10 Conservative Idiots is to show you that conservative idiocy isn’t just a problem with America. No, it’s a global problem that is stemming far and wide, and it’s not just America where conservative idiots ruin everything they touch. So you might be wondering where we’re going with this. That’s easy! You can now look at the handy tour schedule I created! We are starting in France and ending in Mexico – you know, Donald Trump’s favorite country! The end date for Season 3 is 12/20 and we take our traditional week off for the end of the year. Season 4 will have a second leg of the tour covering countries we didn’t get to, as well as the return of our Stupidest State contest with all new states! So here’s the tour schedule – you can put it on a t-shirt if you like, I just ask that we get all the credit!

Last week, we told you about what was going on in France post-election and that it was American alt right douchebags who tried to sway the vote in LaPen’s favor. Now we’re going to France’s next door neighbors in Italy.

Italy

Italy is the home of Rome which is home to such world wonders as the Roman Colisseum, where gladiators would fight to their deaths. It’s also the home of the capitol of Catholicism – Vatican City. Italy also has Venice – which is a world wonder itself as one of the only cities entirely built on water, and Florence, and was the home to the 2006 Winter Olympics. And when you think of Italy, what else comes to mind? Cars! Italy is the home of some of the world's elite auto manufacturers. This includes Fiat Chrysler Group - which owns Maserati and Alfa Romeo. It also includes Lamborghini, Lancia, Pagani, Manzanatti and of course Bugatti.

Italy is also home to some of the most amazing food in the world. Who doesn't enjoy a nice plate of spaghetti and meatballs? Or cappelini al forzo? Or some panini bread? Or a nice margharita pizza? What else is Italy the home of? Why it’s the home of the world’s next election you should be paying more attention to!

Italy is not Greece. The latter is technically a failed state because of its overwhelming public and private indebtedness. But Italy is in the process of becoming Greece. The economy is in terrible shape with a nearly 12 percent unemployment rate nationally. Youth unemployment hovers at 40 percent. Both of these numbers are much worse in southern Italy, a historically depressed region that is now in freefall.

Two legendary businessmen had such statistics in mind when they recently gave interviews to the Corriere della Sera newspaper. Carlo De Benedetti, longtime head of the Olivetti Corporation, declared that work “is the only thing that counts; the rest is superstructure. Work is dignity. A country without work sooner or later will experience social disturbances and upheavals.” Two weeks later the former head of Fiat, Cesare Romiti, concurred. He said that he was frightened by Italy’s unemployment problems: “I am anguished for my country, especially over public indebtedness and unemployment. There is no work; therefore, there is nothing.” We are used to hearing such apocalyptic forebodings about capitalism from Italy’s Marxist left, but not from the country’s corporate headquarters.

Ernesto Galli della Loggia, a distinguished contemporary historian and newspaper columnist, recently wrote that Italy is falling apart. Without work, young people are leaving the country in droves. The physical infrastructure is collapsing. Disorderly conduct is increasing. The menace of organized crime is proliferating. Italy is a country of insecure old people and young people without prospects. Italians look to their uncertain future with fear. In such a crisis-ridden atmosphere, the center, where stability for the status quo lies, cannot hold.

Another leading preoccupation in Italy today is the unwanted arrival of Muslim immigrants and refugees from the war-torn Middle East and North Africa. This is a European-wide problem, but Italy’s proximity to the two afflicted regions makes it especially appealing as a destination for the millions of displaced Muslims seeking safety.

Holy shit! Are Italy’s racists taking cues from America’s racists? If you think France and the US were just isolated incidents, you are actually wrong on this one sir / madam! But as Italy leans more alt right conservative, guess who’s more at risk?

Popular Alternative (AP)

Only founded in March this year, the AP is a descendant of the New Centre Right, which split off from the People of Freedom (PdL) just before that party became Forza Italia. It sounds confusing (and it is!) but gives some idea of how common breakaway parties and changes in name (and ideology) are on the Italian political scene.

The AP is led by Angelino Alfano, who was secretary of the Berlusconi-led PdL until 2013 and widely expected to eventually take over from Berlusconi. Alfano was Justice Minister under Berlusconi and has held the offices of Interior Minister and Foreign Minister since he struck out on his own. Currently, the AP has 25 deputies (of a total of 630) and 22 senators (of 315).

The AP's ideology has its roots in Christian democracy, and Alfano has been a conservative voice in recent governments on issues such as gay rights, adoption, and surrogacy, which he controversially called for to be treated "like a sex crime". Alfano criticized the PD for moving towards an autumn vote, but has said he is "not afraid" of the five percent threshold.

That was from the flick Inglorious Basterds. I love that movie. But Italy’s just like us. They have rampant racism. They have an election that could be swayed by Vladimir Putin – again. They have far right parties, and extreme far right parties. They even have employers who are just as crazy as our employers!

A worker for highways company Autostrade was sacked after bosses found him asleep in his car when he was meant to be working a shift in the southern Abruzzo region of Italy. He will also have to pay a €3,000 fine to cover legal costs.

The man worked as a security officer for Italy's highways agency, but reportedly made an agreement with a colleague so that they took it in turns to sleep during the night rather than patrolling the road together.

An appeals court in L'Aquila had overturned the decision, with judges saying the sanction was "disproportionate" and that the 51-year-old should have to pay a fine instead.

But Wednesday's ruling from the Court of Cassation, Italy's Supreme Court, said that the nap constituted "total job performance failure".

Damn is right! €3000 for sleeping on the job? Jesus! You know what else Italy is the home of? It’s the original home of the soccer riot! And this happened just last week. Although if you’re American, don’t you dare call it soccer unless you want your ass kicked!

MILAN -- More than 1,500 people were injured when panic swept through a crowd of Juventus fans watching the Champions League final in a piazza in the northern Italian city of Turin, authorities said Sunday.

The Turin prefect said in a statement that the crowd "was taken by panic and by the psychosis of a terror attack," fearing that a loud noise was caused by attackers. The source of the loud noise that triggered the stampede remained unclear, officials said.

The noise triggered panic among thousands of fans gathered in Piazza San Carlo to watch the match pitting Juventus against Real Madrid on giant TV screens. Fans were trampled as they tried to flee.

But what else is going on in Italy? Why they’re working on a situation that is very similar to Brexit that could have serious impacts on the Italian economy, the European Union, and travel to and from abroad:

Emmanuel Macron won the French presidential election on Sunday night. Reading through my Twitter feed of political pundits, I got the impression that many felt the wave of nationalism that swept the United Kingdom and the United States in 2016 had stopped. They don’t anticipate that an election in Italy in 2018 could destabilize the European Union. In fact, it could mean the death of the EU.

Italians are beset by a stagnant economy, an immigration crisis and a corrupt political elite — reasons why the anti-establishment party is likely to win the Italian election next year.

First, Italy’s unemployment rate grew from 11.5 percent in March 2016 to 11.7 percent this March. Italy was one of five European Union countries where joblessness spiked. The overall EU unemployment rate of 8 percent — with Germany’s at 3.9 percent — does not sit well with many Italians.

Second, Italy has been hammered by the debt crisis, and carries the second-largest debt of any nation in the Eurozone, roughly 120 percent of the GDP. In fact, it is the only Eurozone member with a debt higher than Greece. Some policymakers fear that Italy will spark the next global economic crisis: Nearly one-fifth of all loans in Italy’s banking system are classified as troubled. This amounts to 360 billion euros, or the equivalent of $400 billion in the United States.

Third, the immigration crisis has rocked Italy intensely, as the nation is the closest European destination for refugees from war-torn countries in the Middle East. In the past three years alone, 500,000 migrants have arrived in Italy, a number greater than the population of fabled Florence. By early January, 4,400 migrants had died trying to cross the Mediterranean.

The Verdict

If you’re thinking about visiting Italy, do it now before the election. If you’re thinking of moving there, I would say wait until *AFTER* the election.

Maybe climate change news? I got the idea because I was watching the Danny Trejo flick Machete Kills on HBO the other day and they tease a sequel at the end for Machete In Space.

Though should I retire the Wheel Of Corruption? Has that run its' course?
