When President Donald Trump wrote online last week that I am being investigated for firing the FBI Director, it was not an admission that he is indeed being investigated, counselor to the president Kellyanne Conway said Monday morning, but instead a Twitter-shortened reaction to media coverage of ongoing probes into his 2016 campaign.
Conways insistence Monday morning that Trumps tweet last Friday was not what it seemed followed in the footsteps of the presidents personal attorney, Jay Sekulow, who said Sunday in an array of political talk show appearances that regardless of what he has written online, Trump is not under investigation.
The presidents statement on Friday that I am being investigated for firing the FBI Director by the man who told me to fire the FBI Director was simply a response to a Washington Post report that special counselor Robert Mueller had widened his investigation to include an examination of whether or not Trump committed obstruction of justice. Conway reiterated that argument Monday morning.
"That's president's personal lawyer. He's saying that nobody has ever notified the president that he's under investigation, Conway told Fox Newss Fox & Friends host Ainsley Earhardt. That's the president responding to a Washington Post report that included five anonymous sources. And that's the president, in his 140 characters, through his significant social media platform, Ainsley, telling everybody, 'wow, look at the irony here.'

(16,878 posts)What is the motivation these Lackey's have for totally debasing themselves in this way? I get Trump's lawyer's claim, he's representing a client, but Conway continues to make herself look more ridiculous with every passing day. Between her and Spicer, the level of absolute debasement is astonishing. No one will ever take them seriously after this. I guess the money and benefits are just that good.

(1,089 posts)and we discussed this very thing. How much money/power/whatever is worth it to know that in the public sphere, your name is absolute and total garbage for the rest of your life? That your kids will likely have to wear that scummy name around their necks forever even if they see a nice, big fat inheritance at some point? Isn't there a proverbial Rubicon out there somewhere that you won't cross?
I guess that standard is different for everybody as it's totally subjective in nature, but I believe that there really isn't an amount of money that I would take in exchange for trashing my family name's credibility - and all of those who live with it - for generations.
Either folks like the Sewer Rat and Stupid Spice don't know that this is the reality or they do and they don't care. Either way it defines them.
