I'm almost tempted to think that Mitch McConnell created a bill so that it would not pass

and they could keep cudgeling us over the head with the failing Obamacare (which is failing in some areas due to GOP action)

I'm ok with that because what i am really not ok with is 24 million people losing their healthcare.

And that in essence is the difference between Democrats and GOP, we are willing to lose because we place a premium on healthcare and people. Many congress people in 2009 voted for the bill knowing they were going to lose their seat but felt it was worth it.

And you know who orchestrated that bill to pass the house, Nancy fucking Pelosi.

They are going to slash taxes for the wealthy and the byproduct (like the AHCA bill) will be destruction of the safety net.

UNLESS
millions and millions of us start screaming on social media, show up at senator and congress offices and homes, SCREAMING at them

Remember, house members who voted for this might call a senator or two and say "oops, maybe you should vote no" you never know.

They have to believe the country is SEETHING angry.

The cuts in Medicaid alone will cause tremendous pain and possible death to FIFTY MILLION of us.

That being Marco Rubio and the REPUBLICANS cutting short the risk corridor payments which sabotaged the ACA.

Why the media doesn't report the facts is a cause of perpetual disgust to me.

Some who do mention this.

Most get local attention so a few thousand at a time can hear the truth.

But overall it is very hard to do.

...the Powell Doctrine is something completely different: then Joint Chiefs head Gen. Colin Powell's doctrine for the 1991 war with Iraq: overwhelming force for a short, decisive conflict, not incremental escalations of force a la Vietnam leading to a quagmire.

Just one of a great many things thrown out the window by Dubya's Dumbasses, with the blessing of Republicans.

The "opposition" from republicans is from the libertarian wing, the bill isn't vile enough for them. They are just posturing and will vote for it.

Insurers are pulling out due to uncertainty. Then again, that could be a good thing that could lead to truly universal healthcare. Our best hope is for him to stall until Dems take back both houses in 2018. The private insurers that bailed due to GOP shenanigans will be replaced by a Medicare-like option.

If it does, we will go through hell for two years, but the reaction to its cruelty will be so extreme that the next health care iteration will be some form of single payer.

If it does not pass, Obamacare remains the law of the land, the Republicans sabotage it and say, "See, we told you this wouldn't work," and the whole subject of healthcare is dropped for another GENERATION. Like it was the last time when Hillary tried it.

It is very counterintuitive, but we should be hoping for this bill to pass. Just as you point out McConnell is hoping it fails.
