Charles M. Blow: Trumps Obama Obsession

Trump’s Obama Obsession
Charles M. Blow JUNE 29, 2017

Donald Trump has a thing about Barack Obama. Trump is obsessed with Obama. Obama haunts Trump’s dreams. One of Trump’s primary motivators is the absolute erasure of Obama — were it possible — not only from the political landscape but also from the history books.

Trump is president because of Obama, or more precisely, because of his hostility to Obama. Trump came onto the political scene by attacking Obama.

Trump has questioned not only Obama’s birthplace but also his academic and literary pedigree. He was head cheerleader of the racial “birther” lie and also cast doubt on whether Obama attended the schools he attended or even whether he wrote his acclaimed books.

Trump has lied often about Obama: saying his inauguration crowd size exceeded Obama’s, saying that Obama tapped his phones and, just this week, saying that Obama colluded with the Russians.

It’s like a 71-year-old male version of Jan from what I would call the Bratty Bunch: Obama, Obama, Obama.

Trump wants to be Obama — held in high esteem. But, alas, Trump is Trump, and that is now and has always been trashy. Trump accrued financial wealth, but he never accrued cultural capital, at least not among the people from whom he most wanted it.

millions of people around the world and here in the US. All of the energy and money spent obstructing most of his plans and policies would have set us so far ahead by now had that energy and money been spent working with him.

You know it's bad when a President can't even get authority to go to war with an enemy because they just didn't want him to succeed in Syria. Getting Osama bin Laden was more than they could take as was putting the country on a solid footing after the worst economic situation since the big Depression. He laid waste to their ingrained stereotype and they know that every day Trump holds office the difference between Trump and President Obama becomes more stark no matter how much they try to hide the facts.

His insistence that Obama 'wire-tapped' him remains one of the more ludicrous charges he has made.

And Trump only conceded that Russia interfered with the election so he could blame Obama for not stopping it (even as Trump does zero to prevent future attacks).

racists. They couldn't stand a black man with high approval ratings and real substantive accomplishments as their President.

And now Obama has taken up residence in drumpf's head.

Not because it's something Trump gets off on, but because it defaced the bed where the Obamas had previously stayed.

I wish USA citizens would realize that their current president has a personal agenda, on one side his personal hate for Obama dictates most of what he does and says, and because he lacks an understanding of consequences, actions have no real meaning to him. His personal insecurity and realization that he can never represent his country in an honorable fashion as his predecessor did, and still does any time he is in public, is a major factor for his hate and that is the first of his drivers for decision making, the other of course is to enrich himself and his family beyond any man's fantasies, and what is best than the tax payers money to do it? Isn't that what republicans have been doing for years? that is his playbook. The fact that he is incompetent beyond belief to run a country, his insecurity coupled with his greed are very formidable evil traits that all USA citizens should be wary of. I am not religious at all, but if there is in fact a God, then God help the USA because the Trump team, and republicans will destroy everything they can get their hands on, and will never feel sorry for doing it, the word "consequences" is not in their dictionary.

I think that Trump's birtherism attacks were the first downpayment to Putin. I believe that is why he kept it up for 8 years.

It doesn't take much to figure out that Trump is the school yard bully jealous of the smart, well liked kid.

What is most discouraging, though, is how many people in this country were not only fooled by the pathological lying con man,
but were ready to ignore all his character faults just so a competent and experienced woman couldn't follow in the black man's footsteps.

We are one very fu*ked up country.

as though he legitimately won the election. He did not. Still, they defend this orange mistake after obstructing President Obama. Barak Obama is everything tRump is not. He is honorable, educated, classy and family oriented. tRump is so repulsive, the only way he attracts women (and the type he attracts is questionable) is by flaunting his supposed wealth. Not only is he an insult to the country, but his wife is a former nude "model". Anyone in the world can google her nude photos. Trashy couple. They are stuck in a miserable "marriage", pretending to actually be together. She is afraid to be alone with him, her parents travel with her. For protection, maybe? After they get the HELL out of the WH, it will have to be fumigated.
