Montana to start testing rape kits this month

HELENA — The state will start testing previously unsubmitted sexual assault kits this month.

The Department of Justice has finished inventorying 1,140 kits from around the state that were not previously tested.

Since then the state has received a $2 million grant to pay for testing and another $284,500 grant to develop a way to inventory, track and report on kits as they are tested.
