Apparently, somebody who works there finally READ those comments.

(50,254 posts)Until today-they just now shut the comments down) 85-90% of the comments were by Trumpchotics-or worse. A good number of those were probably produced by right-wing word agglomerators, based on the repeated phraseology.
It finally got to be too much for good 'ol Kabletown.

(82,849 posts)I thought that linking comments to a Facebook account was a pretty good way of weeding out the trolls, but it's not, and MSN may have finally figured that out. The first time I called out a fake Facebook account in response to an obvious troll, I was a bit nervous: After all, they just had to click on my profile and be able to read all about me. But nothing happened that first time. It didn't happen the second time, either. Or in the months since then, when I've called out any number of "no friends, no history" Facebook profiles.
I don't know what prompted MSN to disable commenting, or what "better ways" they're exploring for readers to engage in discussions. Maybe they're setting up a moderator-based system, where comments have to be reviewed before they're posted?
