Is Don Jr.'s confession of attempted collusion/treason a cover for their quid pro quo

By saying we met with a Russian and nothing came of it, it seems like it could be the end of the story. But if it is an attempt to get ahead of the story, they could be hiding the actual quid pro quo. The Dems are already asking about Velenitskaya and Prevezon. Then there is the change to the Republican platform about Ukraine and the dissing of NATO. trump's appointment of unqualified people to cabinet positions are wreaking havoc on our democratic institutions. Throwing Jr under the bus to cover up trump's payback to the Russians may be worth it. Considering Republican lack of willingness to address trump's treason, it gives them tenuous cover for their lack of action.

Yep. This is too stupid, even for them. They're hiding something bigger. Squinch Jul 2017 #2

Jr lied about that meeting from the get-go. No way is he telling the truth on the outcome. I have said from the start of his campaign the only reason he is running is because he owes then a lot of money. They will forgive his debt if he undoes the sanctions and other favors. The firing of Barhaha was the only way to get a settlement in that money laundering case. IMO the prosecutor who made that deal needs to be investigated and asked if he was pressured/blackmailed into making that deal. The Russians involved went from doing serious jail time to a small fine. ???

All the other things Russia wants are either coming along nicely or still on the table.
