For Your Own Sake, GOP - STFU
I’d like to ask the GOP spokes-mouths (I believe the collective term for these people is “an Embarrassment of Republicans”) to do themselves a favour. After babbling like idiots in the MSM, go home, fire-up the TV recording machine, and listen to yourselves.
If you’re not totally humiliated by what you hear coming out of your own pie-holes, you’re obviously too stupid to understand how utterly ridiculous you sound – perhaps as stupid as The Idiot you’re defending, although I’m reluctant to think anyone else is quite that dumb.
The unending stream of bullshit you’ve been spewing for months has been bad enough, and I’ve no doubt that coming up with ways to defend Idiot Boy has required an inordinate amount of creativity and imagination. Surely the fact that your “pResident” is a one-man-lying-machine has been a challenge – especially when you know that while you’re defending his latest statement, he will more than likely contradict that same statement within an hour of you’re having done so. Dare I say it: I feel your pain.
But the past few days have been a beyond-the-pale avalanche of bullshit that rivals Baghdad Bob’s assurances that there were no US forces in Iraq. In fact, by comparison, Baghdad Bob is looking like the most trustworthy “journalist” we’ve seen in decades.
The Don Junior emails? Thus far, we’ve heard that “Fredo Trump” was too naïve to know that meeting with someone who promised to dish the dirt on HRC – someone who represented the Russian government’s desire to help elect his dad to the presidency – was simply a rookie mistake.
We’ve also heard that Trump himself had no idea about this meeting, until he remembered that maybe he was aware of it – in the same way Jared Kushner suddenly “remembered” that on his security clearance form, signed under penalty of perjury, he somehow “forgot” to include over a hundred contacts with foreign operatives.
The story coming out of the Trump WH has changed literally on an hourly basis. And you’ve gone from “this meeting never happened”, to “well, okay, it happened, but nothing substantive was discussed”, to “even if something substantive was discussed, it doesn’t mean anything”.
Do you HEAR yourselves? I have to give you credit for valiantly defending the totally indefensible – but really, people, do you LISTEN TO YOURSELVES? I have to assume you don’t – because if you did, you’d immediately recognize just how ridiculous you all sound.
When you Trump defenders are reduced to defending a blatant attempt to collude with an adversarial foreign power – along with the blatant lies and ever-changing stories surrounding that collusion – isn’t it time to question your own integrity, your own ethics, your own patriotism?
Promoting the idea that Fredo Trump is too much of a dumbass to know what he was doing is beyond cutesy, along with promoting the idea that Kushner and Manafort – who also attended this meeting – were somehow unaware of its implications is beyond laughable.
When the “official story” changes from one hour to the next, when the “facts” are a moving target that are altered on a minute-to-minute basis, do you not even question your own morality in changing your OWN story in order to fit the latest narrative, the facts be damned?
Where are your scruples – assuming you ever had any – when you sit in front of the cameras, night after night, desperately trying to convince your fellow citizens that collusion with our enemies is “no big deal” – in the same way Trump giving those same enemies classified information was “no big deal”, in the same way his bending over backwards to appease those enemies is “no big deal”, in the same way his evidence-free accusations that Obama “wire-tapped” him was “no big deal”?
I beg you to LISTEN to yourselves – listen to the bullshit you have mired yourselves in. Listen to the lies you have defended, the lies you have insisted are the truth (all facts to the contrary). Listen to how low you have allowed yourselves to sink in order to prop-up an ignorant con-artist who, without the assistance of a foreign adversarial power, would never have been in a position to disgrace the office of POTUS in the first place.
While I appeal to your better nature, your sense of what is right, your love of country, I know full well that such an entreaty will fall on deaf ears, as you obviously abandoned all those principles long ago. Despite the fact that you think you’re getting away with doing so, the truth will out in the end – and your ludicrous attempts to cast treasonous behaviour as “politics as usual” will be remembered for many years – and elections – to come.
