Lyin Ryan made them to swear to secrecy

A month before Donald Trump clinched the Republican nomination, one of his closest allies in Congress House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy made a politically explosive assertion in a private conversation on Capitol Hill with his fellow GOP leaders: that Trump could be the beneficiary of payments from Russian President Vladimir Putin.
Theres two people I think Putin pays: Rohrabacher and Trump, McCarthy (R-Calif.) said, according to a recording of the June 15, 2016, exchange, which was listened to and verified by The Washington Post. Rep. Dana Rohrabacher is a Californian Republican known in Congress as a fervent defender of Putin and Russia.
House Speaker Paul D. Ryan (R-Wis.) immediately interjected, stopping the conversation from further exploring McCarthys assertion, and swore the Republicans present to secrecy.
Before the conversation, McCarthy and Ryan had emerged from separate talks at the Capitol with Ukrainian Prime Minister Vladimir Groysman, who had described a Kremlin tactic of financing populist politicians to undercut Eastern European democratic institutions.
News had just broken the day before in The Washington Post that Russian government hackers had penetrated the computer network of the Democratic National Committee, prompting McCarthy to shift the conversation from Russian meddling in Europe to events closer to home.
Some of the lawmakers laughed at McCarthys comment. Then McCarthy quickly added: Swear to God.
Ryan instructed his Republican lieutenants to keep the conversation private, saying: No leaks. . . . This is how we know were a real family here.
The remarks remained secret for nearly a year.

(54,377 posts)When they think the time is right, they will not hesitate to rid themselves of those family members they think have done the family wrong. They will then quietly vanish from the face of the earth, and in true Mafia style: at the hands of their own people. Those Republicans that other Republicans feel have done wrong will get as much mention as Spiro Angew did in 1975.

(CNN)These days, most American officials would be reluctant to disclose any connection to Russia, much less a meeting with an alleged former Soviet spy whose alleged role in lobbying on behalf of Kremlin interests was recently called out by the chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee.
But Dana Rohrabacher, a Republican representative from California, openly acknowledges such a meeting with Rinat Akhmetshin.
It lasted between 15 and 20 minutes and took place the night of April 11 in Berlin, at the lobby bar of the Westin Grand Hotel, according to two eyewitnesses and Rohrabacher.
The topic of discussion: A high-profile Russian money laundering case and related sanctions on Russia.

(58,785 posts)to the GOP as the real "boot falling," too. Let's hope they're devastating. Right now, Rump could be removed and the GOP left standing as a self-declared symbol of anti-Rump probity for much of the nation.
I'd also forgotten McCarthy's "joke." Rump-Russia was obviously as common knowledge in congress as Sandusky's child rapes were among Penn State staff.

Just about time to get in the streets because it doesn't seem like anything is going to happen to this criminal cabal to me. Something needs to be done.

One month before Donald Trump won the Republican presidential nomination in 2016, G.O.P. lawmakers were whispering about the possibility of collusion between the Trump campaign and Russia. According to an audio recording obtained by The Washington Post, House Republican leaders were discussing a meeting with the prime minister of Ukraine, who had warned about Russias efforts to destabilize Western democracies by funding populist politicians, when the groupwhich included Speaker of the House Paul Ryan, House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy, House Majority Whip Steve Scalise, and Conference Chair Cathy McMorris Rodgersturned the conversation to Russian interference in the United States.
Theres two people I think Putin pays: Rohrabacher and Trump, McCarthy said, referring to California Republican Dana Rohrabacher, who has repeatedly advocated for closer relations with Russia. Swear to God, McCarthy added as others in the room laughed.

(51,129 posts).... a person who has committed "at least two acts of racketeering activity" drawn from a list of 35 crimes27 federal crimes and 8 state crimeswithin a 10-year period can be charged with racketeering if such acts are related in one of four specified ways to an "enterprise".[citation needed] Those found guilty of racketeering can be fined up to $25,000 and sentenced to 20 years in prison per racketeering count.[citation needed] In addition, the racketeer must forfeit all ill-gotten gains and interest in any business gained through a pattern of "racketeering activity."[citation needed]
When the U.S. Attorney decides to indict someone under RICO, they have the option of seeking a pre-trial restraining order or injunction to temporarily seize a defendant's assets and prevent the transfer of potentially forfeitable property, as well as require the defendant to put up a performance bond. ......
.............
RICO predicate offenses
Under the law, the meaning of racketeering activity is set out at 18 U.S.C. § 1961. As currently amended it includes:
Any violation of state statutes against gambling, ............
Any act of.... fraud, ... obstruction of justice, .... money laundering ..........

.... Pro-life activists
RICO laws were successfully cited in NOW v. Scheidler, 510 U.S. 249, 114 S. Ct. 798, 127 L.Ed. 2d 99 (1994), a suit in which certain parties, including the National Organization for Women, sought damages and an injunction against pro-life activists who physically block access to abortion clinics. The Court held that a RICO enterprise does not need an economic motive, and that the Pro-Life Action Network could therefore qualify as a RICO enterprise. The Court remanded for consideration of whether PLAN committed the requisite acts in a pattern of racketeering activity. ..........
