House Democrats want to know why a major Russian money-laundering case was abruptly settledNatasha Bertrand
Democratic members of the House Judiciary Committee sent a letter to Attorney General Jeff Sessions on Wednesday asking why the Department of Justice settled a major money-laundering case involving a real-estate company owned by the son of a powerful Russian government official whose lawyer met with Donald Trump Jr. last year.
Trump Jr., the president's eldest son, on Tuesday tweeted an email chain from June 2016 in which he entertained accepting damaging information from a "Russian government attorney" about Hillary Clinton as part of the Kremlin's support for his father's campaign.

Jesus H. Christ. If Hillary had done 1/1000 of the shit the Trump/Kushner Crime Syndicate is getting away with, they'd be remodeling a special Clinton Wing at Leavenworth. This is a bigger clusterfuck than even I imagined, and I imagined a colossal one. There isn't one Republican who isn't tainted by this whole mess. Their desperate measures to cling to and consolidate power before demographics overtake them is the most unpatriotic, un-American, treasonous thing since the Civil War. And from what I can see, most Americans couldn't care less. We're utterly lost.

(34,383 posts)Pence will pardon him. I don't see any way that anyone suffers any consequences--especially with the current level of collusion in the Republican party. I've never seen anything as shameful in my lifetime. And my Social Security kicks in in August.

Right Trump and possibly Pence are unindicted co-conspirators.
Pretty sure Mueller and the other lawyers are all wise enough in legal areas to know they have to have a big net to make sure charges will stick, and am sure that some GOP Congress people have already become eligible to be in the net.

(989 posts)it is a political hot potato and doesn't win any votes. Therefore, the big rush at the end of the 2nd term.
Notable exceptions to this rule was when Ford pardoned Nixon; and when Carter pardoned the draft dodgers.

Sometimes things happen, abruptly, with this administration. Snowflakes are just too triggered to keep up.
