President's son-in-law reportedly did not read subject line or some contents of email chain

The Presidents son-in-law reportedly has an unusual excuse for why he, the Presidents family and campaign aides attended a meeting before the election with a Russian lawyer to get dirt on Hillary Clinton.
Jared Kushner was forwarded an email from Donald Trump Jr, in which a contact claimed he could set up a meeting at Trump Tower with a lawyer who worked for the Russian government.
...........
... a source close to the situation told BuzzFeed that Mr Kushner did not read to the bottom of the email, missing out key words like Russian government and therefore did not realise what the meeting was about. ..........

(101,411 posts)Hey, I'm just a guy who was handling hundreds of millions of dollars of family money. You can't expect me to find out what meetings I go to are about. My time is worth nothing, especially in the middle of my father-in-law's presidential campaign, so whenever my brother-in-law says "come to a confidential meeting about Russia", I just do it without even wondering why I should. I'll do whatever the idiot family I married into tells me without thought.

(101,411 posts)The Independent attributed it to BuzzFeed, which attributed it to the Daily Beast:
---snip---
According to a source familiar with the situation, speaking to The Daily Beast on the condition of anonymity to discuss the matter, Kushner claims that he did not scan to the bottom of the email thread forwarded by his brother-in-law, therefore completely missing the part about Russia and its government.

And from Politico - Tuesday last week:
---snip---
A source close to Manafort told POLITICO on Tuesday that the campaign chairman hadnt read all the way to the bottom of the email exchanges on his phone and that he didnt even know who he was meeting with when he attended the 20- to 30-minute session. Kushners attorney did not respond to a request for comment.

(10,279 posts)He desperately needs to hire a lawyer as his memo reader. All that Jared has to do is watch the lips, listen and repeat the words of the memo reader. The memo reader needs to ask Jared some questions on the content of the memo to make sure both understand. Finally, Jared should read the memo aloud and ask the memo reader some questions on the content -- just to make sure that these two morans comprehend the info being presented to them.
(My spell checker keeps changing "moran" to "moron" -- but, I think I fixed that.)

So he needs a lie that can't be disproven. How do you prove he read it? Either way, ignorance is no excuse.

(5,272 posts)so Manafort must be concerned about conspiracy or campaign illegality, since he doesn't have Jared's security clearance problem.
Both Manafort and Kushner though have same problem that they want to reduce their culpability by making it clear they did not arrange the meeting and didn't know in advance, but the fact that Junior forwarded the incriminating emails to both of them makes it unlikely they didn't know what was going on.
