in bringing Palin to the campaign with no real "vetting". After a while she apparently realized what a total train wreck Palin was, but at the beginning she unquestionably plumped for the "game changer".

Too bad her change of heart hasn't been sufficient to either cause her to leave the Republican party entirely, or to work significantly harder to bring down those currently running the show.

I do see she currently lists herself as Independent, which is a baby step.

She's even been quoted as saying, when the shit was hitting the fan about Palin's unsuitability for the VP slot: "If people want to throw me under the bus, my personal belief is that the most honorable thing to do is to lie there."

Those are not the words of someone who is going to think and behave independently. They're the words of a true believer, one who goes along with the flow, not matter how vile it becomes.

She initially had zero problem with Palin and was cheerfully complicit in her selection as VP without anything remotely resembling vetting. She did end up pretty appalled at Palin, but it's not as though Wallace has in any substantive way moved very far from the Republican Party.

Actually, you might find reading her novel "Eighteen Acres" to be quite enlightening. It takes place in what I can only call an alternate universe in which the first woman President is a Republican. There are giant plot holes, large enough for the moon to sail through. And to show how little (in my opinion) she actually respects the need for people to be qualified to do their jobs . . .

PLOT SPOILER!!!!

At the end of the novel, when this woman president is getting ready to run for a second term, she's planning to promote her (I'm forgetting the exact job title the character has, so bear with me here) Press Liaison or maybe it's her Chief of Staff to. . . . are you ready for this? Secretary of State. Yeah, like that's the right background for the job. I'd normally think only someone totally out of any kind of touch with life inside the Beltway could think of something like that, but nope. Nicolle Wallace, after an adult life spent in that field. Maybe that's the essential problem with most Republicans. They don't ever bother to look at someone's background to figure out if they have the right kind of experience to do a particular job. We certainly see that at the present with all those working with and for Donald Trump. Just have the right connections and you're hired!

In short, I simply don't respect Ms. Wallace. Nice that recently she's been willing to challenge certain Republicans, but she was long part of the problem herself.

And assumed that Palin had been vetted. But then she got to know Palin and was appalled that she wasn't vetted.

In the end, Wallace chose not to vote because of Palin. She put country ahead of party and her own self interest. That shows character. Just because someone is a conservative or republican it doesn't make them a bad person.

Demonizing someone just because they disagree with you is what they do on FAUX News. We should be better than that.

Just read this. . .

"You know, Chris Christie made the news yesterday by talking about how the meeting with the Russians probably was breaking the law. A lot of people said, well, that's revenge served up cold. Actually, Chris Christie is a perfect example of how disloyal Donald Trump is.

"Christie was the first to get out, support Donald Trump. He was used and then abused on the vice presidency. Strung out, told he would get the position of attorney general. He didn't get that."
