He knows they don't have the votes for anything the House would possibly accept in a conference committee process.
He knows the country doesn't want anything close to what these bills are like.
And he knows people will still remember that Obama was president for eight years and did good things.
So...why the obsession?

(37,428 posts)His empty promises sustain him only so far, andpsudo-votes in Congress on ACA repeal aren't cutting it. He wants a real win, and wants to sign a bill into law.

(3,077 posts)Will cause him to continue to fixate on the loss. I am trying to see the positive in that it will keep his agenda bogged down.

(56,829 posts)1) He thinks only four Senate Republicans being against it is good - only 2 of them need to be bribed into flipping their votes.
2) He's being fed some skewed polls that show TrumpCare is more popular than it really is.
3) He's just an angry old man lashing out whoever Bannon or Kushner tell him is at fault.

(65,216 posts)He wants to undo anything good by "the black guy". Only he probably uses a worse descriptor.

(4,971 posts)That about sums it up in one word.
Two things actually:
1 possible tax breaks for him.
2 he just must destroy what his black predecessor has accomplished to maintain his imaginary white manhood.

(19,820 posts)Barack Obama's legacy. He hates him.
He doesn't care HOW or what's in the bill.
Just reverse everything he did.
Because he is a sick punk bitch.

(694 posts)Savings from the death of the ACA are being relied upon in the budget "negotiations", though I'm certain there will be no negotiating. Overhauling the tax code is another factor. All of these issues are inextricably intertwined.

(13,926 posts)Ever notice anything he says, thinks or does is GREAT!! PMA.
His pastor in church growing up was none other than Norman Vincent Peale the author of "The power of positive thinking". On the rare times I listen to him talk I hear N.V.Peale speaking..
Think positive and all will be ok and you will reach your goals... sometimes
I read the book years ago. NPR did a blurb on it in January...

(111,360 posts)If you saw the video, you noticed a black cloud right over the orange hair as a frowning Dump stomped out of the place. He was absolutely furious.
So if he seems dangerously obsessed he is. He wants to obliterate everything Obama did in office and he'd be happy to see Obama deleted from the historical records. He despises it when he's crossed by someone he considers inferior in any way, meaning anyone who isn't a rich male WASP. If you've read about his vendetta against a couple of Scots farmers, you know this is his pattern.
What I'm hoping is that the Senate is in no mood to be bullied. McConnell has been doing enough of that lately so Dump's browbeating will not be taken well.
Best of all, Democrats are wisely sitting back on this one, voting against the horseshit and doing no grandstanding. This is the GOP's problem and for once in that party's rotten history, they're the ones who are going to have to clean it up.
