On CNN, the WA Post reporter just indicated they'd been sitting on this Sessions story for months.

The reason they came forward now was that, with so much attention focused on Sessions, they thought others might put the story out first -- and they didn't want that to happen.

So much for the theory that news organizations never hold real stories back -- sometimes for months. They do, for various reasons. This is an example of that.

I don't remember them saying why they were waiting. My personal guess is that they wanted more WH sources (in addition to whoever they had before). And lo and behold, now they have them.

but I have read that major news agencies are coordinating some things with the Mueller team, so as not to release things prematurely that might compromise the investigation.

I mean, think about all the stories that have come out regarding Trump and Russia. Nothing sticks. Trump invents a new scandal and the public moves on.

With Sessions back in the news via Trump's interview with the NYT, this story couldn't have a bigger impact than now.

I suspect they are sitting on some other important stories too.

so that Comey did not tell Sessions what Trump had discussed with Comey, indicating Comey did not trust Sessions when it came to Trump/Russia matters.

and Wa. Post later revealed that they thought Bill Clinton was going to win, so they chose to not publicize what was known about Bob Doles affairs including with a secretary in his office who apparently had no real secretarial duties.
