Any suggestions about where John McCain should score some marijuana for his cancer side effects?

Marijuana can sure help with nausea as well as pain, and there are a variety of states in which marijuana is legal.

Any suggestions about where John McCain should go for a bit of the weed?

My wife said, "Make sure they take cash when they go to buy the marijuana."

I don't believe he ever came out for the legalization of marijuana (especially medical marijuana) and certainly the Republicans in general have been totally opposed to it.

One of our good friends died recently with cancer and towards the end of his life, his parents were concerned that marijuana might be harmful. The cancer physicians (oncologist) all said there were no bad side effects from marijuana use, and that marijuana was was aor preferable to anything that they could prescribe.

I think this is a good learning case for those who are undecided about the benefits of marijuana, especially in medical conditions.

That's how Nixon managed to knock millions of people off of the voting rolls--to toughen the penalties regarding marijuana. He knew what he was doing--he knew that marijuana was not a dangerous drug.

But by doing that, he disenfranchised millions of people who would've voted against him, ruin their lives, started the war on drugs that is maintained to this day. Also, this war is about to be amplified, put on steroids, by Atty. Gen. Jeff Sessions.

Time to emphasized that not only is marijuana not harmful, it can have very positive side effects.

Crass is disenfranchising millions of people, taking whether voting rights. Almost certainly that would have tipped the scales in the last election. (It is too bad that Hilary did not run on a program also of legalization of marijuana--that is endorsed by 60% or so the American public.)

the importance of palliative care, and making sure that the story ends well. And that is, unnecessary pain, suffering, or fear at the end of one's life is unconscionable.

My favorite book for the last year has been "Being Mortal" by physician Atul Gawande, M.D. This is about helping the end of life be as positive as possible. I remember finishing it one morning at about 2:30 AM with tears coming down my face. Very moving book about end-of-life issues.

if you go on YouTube and search for Atul Gawande being mortal, you can see a lot about the approach of this physician.

I sure think that for many people, marijuana can help with discomfort and fear.

Again, sorry for your loss.

Weed stores are going to outnumber coffee places soon. Also, I love it here because if I get terminally ill, I can choose when I go. It's not for everyone, but at least it's another option.

That being said, I wish him a painless transition, and peace for his family.

And there are forms of it that have been legal for a long time for appetite stimulation.

The health care teams of cancer patients are very dedicated and will find the best combination of medications for him. Marijuana, contrary to popular belief, isn't a panacea for everyone, not is it the most effective for nausea.

I'm not looking forward to it but there are no other options. I'm going to be driving a few hundred miles for it through very unsympathetic territory.

If I were stronger and braver I'd not attempt to conceal but do it in an act of civil disobedience if caught.

I'm sick of the repukes who are against something up until they need it. Florida voted to legalize medicinal but the State has not and will not put in place a mechanism for certifying patients, doctors, and dispensaries.

Washington is shaking out the side effects of legalization i.e. the DOT is examining impaired drivers--but nobody should drive impaired on anything --and there are always snake oil salesman who claim benefits where there are none, but all in all it's been a success. When I take a walk in a park and smell it, I think, thank goodness they can do that without getting arrested, or my patient shows me where marijuana butter helped a skin condition, I think that's so awesome it's now available.

(Off topic, but we are also using medi-honey more and more for chronic wounds)

On the dark side, I know a couple of people far too involved in dapping, but I know people who go to the bar too often too.

My fried voted against recreational pot. I doubt McCain would want the notoriety of a medical marijuana permit. Who knows what leniency comes at the dim hours. My father, who was opposed, 15 years ago, was asking for it before he died, extreme pain, red state.
I'll always wish I had done something to help, but I was in another state & constrained.

However, this does point up the ludicrousness of our drug war, that throws sick people in prison for "unauthorized" use of their own bodies and nervous systems.

We'd rather put sick people in prison than allow them to catch an unauthorized buzz.
