Donald Trump's new communications director thinks punishing Russia for interfering in the presidential election was "not the best decision."
Donald Trumps newly minted communications director, Anthony Scaramucci, wants to lift sanctions that were imposed on Russia in retaliation for its election meddling.
Scaramucci expressed this position in a pair of interactions with state-owned Russian media in January, at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, while he was serving on Trumps transition team.
His comments echo recent actions from the Trump administration currently pushing for the sanctions imposed by the Obama administration to be eased.
Scaramucci told TASS, the state-run Russian newswire, that Trump has an enormous respect for the Russian people and the legacy of the relationship that the US has with Russia and that Trump was signaling that he hoped to improve the relationship in the coming year.

(58,785 posts)that he has ties to both the Kochs and the Mercers, who have had great success in getting Rump to fill high positions with their choices, that new positions would be opening up as some fell, and that telling the Russians this would get right back to Rump and please him.
If it wasn't Rump's idea in the first place. Scaramucci's been trying for a position in his administration for months.

(58,785 posts)guy's a major attention-seeker who chased a bunch of politicians before finally getting belatedly taken "inside" by Rump. But IMO it's the wannabe-oligarch connection that's really significant. When Rump's jettisoned they'll still be enormously powerful and most of their agents still at work.

Well, he got passed over a lot until now, and my guess is he'll fail completely to stabilize the WH enough to be able to focus a tad on whatever the agenda of the moment might be in Rump's head.
Otoh, so far he seems to realize that a Nancy-Reaganish adoration is a good posture to take with Rump. It's working extremely well for Pence.

I'm guessing the Scaramuccis of those circles might grade success by the number of pats, anxiously waiting to find out, maybe hoping for a clamp on the shoulder locking them in place for seconds they can brag about.

(5,730 posts)They would know what they have in it. Like DT'S so called blind trust. It's a scam.
They lose money in the liquidation, but they get a tax
break. GWB and Carter did. Carter really lost.
So, now I'm thinking that Mucci took this job, at least in part, for the tax break. I think he had already sold his hedge fund to the Chinese, but it may have been in anticipation of the job. Also, he could have sold it, then gone looking for the job, to get the tax break. I do not know. Anyone?
I read somewhere, that he had been hanging out for awhile, making himself useful. He was still deleting his tweets critical of DT yesterday.

(5,730 posts)1. Through investments. I have no information...just speculating, because DT appears to get $$.
2. Maybe he can get in on a small percentage, which would pay billions.
This brings me back to my original question, why is he doing this? Ego. Higher profile, not always a good thing.
He is already a billionaire. He has a Harvard law degree. I don't know if he is licensed, but, if he is, he could lose that. Just what does he have to gain? Nada. Only tarnishment or becoming a part of the web of lies and bad acts.
I don't believe the love, love, BS. A few years ago he ridiculed him.
Maybe now that he's made his money, he wants a path to power and elected office...or more money.

(13,524 posts)to Sibur, a petrochemical co. that's tight w/Kremlin...hmmmm
from Jan. '16:
snip
After the United States and Europe slapped Russia with sanctions over the Ukraine conflict, many board members distanced themselves. And recently, the fund has faced an uncomfortable spotlight over a big investment to a politically connected company. Late last year, the Russian Direct Investment Fund made a $1.75 billion loan to Sibur, a giant petrochemical company with close ties to the Kremlin.
Such concerns have long clouded the investment landscape, that politics play a heavy hand in business. And they have only intensified with the current economic malaise, as the government struggles to deal with weak oil prices and Western sanctions.
One of Siburs major shareholders, Gennady N. Timchenko, has decades-long ties to President Vladimir V. Putin of Russia. Mr. Timchenko is under United States sanctions as a member of the inner circle.

(10,828 posts)Scaramucci was suppose to join the Trump team after the inauguration but whispers of his Russian links squashed that recruitment. He was also the subject of the CNN article that was eventually retracted, leading to the firings/resignations of 3 CNN employees.
Guess Scaramucci and Team Trump thought it was safe to come out of the weeds now.

The media ought to tell them to be outraged because obviously most people need to be told what to think and the GOP has beaten us int hat area. Time for our media (do we actually have "our media?" to tell them some truths they need to believe.
