O.J. Simpson Need A New Lawyer
Not only does Malcolm Lavergne seem to be a sub par lawyer, he also seems to be a complete butt. I am not the biggest fan of the Goldman family, but what Lavergne said about them and the settlement they have against O.J. was just callous. When talk turned to the fact that Simpson, according to the Goldman family, has paid less than one percent of the civil judgement against him, Lavergne said, "Nobody cares about the Goldman's judgement". Lavergne then went on to say that it was not Simpson's obligation to pay the settlement; it was the Goldman family's obligation to figure out how to get the money from Simpson. Lavergne also took a shot at the Goldman's by stating they could get $250,000 and $500,000 book advances.
Throughout the interview Lavergne attempted to make Simpson out to be a victim. He even acted as if Simpson had been wrongly convicted by claiming that the society has finally gotten it pound of flesh and "whatever society has had against Mr. Simpson its time to move on from that". Later in the interview Lavergne claimed that Simpson felt exploited due to people writing books about him and doing TV shows.
Lavergne and Simpson (although Simpson was not a part of the interview) came across in a negative light. Lavergne should have showed a little more empathy even if he did not believe Simpson was wrong. The interview is not likely to win Simpson any sympathy from people who do not already like him.
