What the hell, Chris Jansing?!

What the hell, Chris Jansing?! Seriously. On MSNBC, she’s berating the Democrats for holding a presser about their economic plan at the same time that Kushner is being queried.

Since when do Democrats have to wait until they’re not fighting with Trump for airtime? The one thing Trump is good at is controlling the clock around the camera and microphone.

Meanwhile, as Jansing belittles the Democrats, they go to a split screen and show the Democrats speaking, but the audio is all about Trump and Kushner.

Jansing has in the past provided moments that indicate a grasp of journalist principles. Today she is clearly choosing to ignore them.

Once more with feeling: Liberal media bias, my ass.

message to answer the question, "What DO you stand for?" This question was long ago answered by the truly kick-ass Democratic platform, but no one knows about the kick-ass platform, because we are bad at messaging.

If you are going to put out an active, strong message, you do it in such a way that you will own the news cycle.

You don't schedule it for the same time as Kushner's statement.

When you schedule it for the same time as Kushner's statement, you are not doing good messaging.

We need to be better at messaging.

that we have an administration that is not averse to creating a media moment to effectively pre-empt anything the Democrats are doing. Schedule a presser for 10, they'll have an 'announcement' that absolutely must happen at that same moment. Not to mention the hours squandered with cameras endlessly focused on empty podiums awaiting His Nib's arrival during the campaign, to the detriment of any messaging from the HRC camp, a lesson that he learned well.

I have no doubt that had the Dems scheduled their presser for later in the day, Kushie's remarks would have been delayed accordingly.

even if he's not on tv.

The Russian thing is the story of a century. If you want to get front & center treatment in the midst of such a thing, you have to pick a slow news day. This isn't one of them.

Sigh. Who is making these decisions for the DNC?

announcing a new focus and plan for 2018+. This was it. The one. Not that many of people are listening to that. When they get home for work, if they're interested in politics, they're going to watch the Kushner speech and hear the rundown of the Russian investigation news.

They also held a press conference on July 19 about the so called voter fraud commission.

If you want the most exposure possible, and to make a splash and reach the most people, you don't do it when the story of the century is front and center that day, with one of the key players undergoing questioning by Congress and who is ALSO giving a speech that day.

It's just common sense. The Dem. speech will get buried in the news cycle.

But it's skunky of them to split the screen to show an event taking place, while they're showing 'emptiness' on the other side as they talk about the thing that hasn't happened yet.

Everything short of war will take 2nd billing to anything of significance going on w/the Russia investigation, like Kushner being questioned by Congress and giving a speech addressing collusion.

This was a bad move and does not give me a lot of hope for 2018 if this is the best they can do. It's difficult to pick a day not filled with crises lately, but this was a known huge day for Russia investigation news.

Oh, well.

how long are Dems supposed to wait to have a public moment? If they don't speak up, they're damned. If they do speak up, they're criticized for waiting too long or jumping too soon or not saying it right. Yes, the Russia story is huge and historical; but we needn't help make things worse by diminishing everything else. We need to keep all the levers operational if the country is going to survive intact.
