(2,785 posts)So it is probably wise Hilary doesn't for the time being. Only the house and Senate can put an end to this and they probably wont because their repukes. Hell wouldn't surprise me if they helped Trump stack all the courts in his favor so he cannot be sued successfully.

(13,390 posts)That is a word with a physical meaning that should not be used as a metaphor. There is nothing serious, believable, or damaging about this rhetoric. If anything, it reveals desperation and insecurity. It's nothing but schoolyard taunts and should be ignored rather than interpreted as something to take seriously.

(13,390 posts)and has had a lot of time and experience to learn not to be traumatized by this crap. Intellectually, this is "I know you are but what am I" level stuff. Responding or even giving it the time of day is a waste of energy. Trump is a fool, and he lies. It's completely outlandish for a president to behave this way. But when it comes to Trump, it is nothing new. Trump calls for an investigation into someone he doesn't like. Trump tells a lie. Ho hum. These are not shocking headlines. We should know better than to be distracted and provoked by it.

(2,785 posts)A schoolyard taunt would something like saying your hair is ugly. Not a schoolyard taunt to say I am going to throw you in jail. That's a threat and a pretty serious one since it's coming from the President of the United States.

(13,390 posts)It is schoolyard crap at the adult level. Getting hysterical and using hyperbolic descriptions and scenarios is what gives it momentum.

(2,785 posts)that's schoolyard stuff too? I know it hasn't happened in America yet, but don't think it can't. Especially with someone like Trump if he thinks he could get away with it he would try it. Especially if he believes it would benefit him.

(13,390 posts)Trump is despicable, a terrible role model, has an overinflated ego and sense of accomplishment. And he got elected as he spewed hate. But, the only difference between himself and most presidents since desegregation is he was not subtle about it.
Trump does not have leadership or interpersonal skills, and he is not smart. He is also not charismatic. No US president is as powerful as people are desperate to believe and Trump is one who is learning that the hard way. As much as the GOP enables him in hopes of maintaining their majority, there are still a few who will not allow this to get as far as the nightmares you seem to be desperate to entertain.

(269 posts)it's his base she needs to worry about. Every time he slanders her or Obama, it's a rallying cry to his supporters. He's riling them up. We know some of them are as unhinged as Trump, and some are way beyond that. It could lead to something very bad, and Trump appears to be inciting it.
