the obsession with leakers

as long as i've been watching/reading news, reports have always sighted "a source" of some sort in government reports. and nothing was ever really said about it. it just was what it was, the free and legal flow of info to the press.

now all of a sudden that we have a dictator in the white house with lots of crimes to hide, suddenly the white house is trying to convince you that the flow of information to the press is destroying our country.

no accident......... i'm disappointed that no one in the press calls this out for what it is. an attempt to neuter the 4th estate and eliminate the sacred trust that provides transparency to the people.

1. Washington has a cult of secrecy, always has to some extent

and the whole thing is ridiculous. Things are classified on the vague chance they might embarrass a bureauocrat somewhere. People who are sick of the whole thing and people who might be annoyed with a bureaucrat in question will then speak to the press, and thank goodness for the lot of them. We the people would be kept completely in the dark if it weren't for brave souls "leaking" inappropriately classified material. If they're caught, their lives and careers are usually ruined.

You'd think they'd declared war against the American people or something. Oh, wait...
