Peter Thiel, PayPal co-founder and Facebook investor, endorsed Donald Trump during a speech at the Republican National Convention, but hes reportedly been telling friends the president was a risky investment, reported BuzzFeed News.
Friends told the website that Thiel has expressed concerns in a half dozen private conversations between spring 2016, well before his RNC speech, and May 2017.
There is a 50 percent chance this whole thing ends in disaster, Thiel told friends privately, according to two sources who attended an event with the tech giant around Inauguration Day.
Thiel seemed annoyed by Trumps actions at an event in May, sources told the website, and he described the administration as incompetent and questioned the presidents chances at re-election.

(82,849 posts)Wealthy people don't like to take chances. They like their capers to be lead pipe cinches, even if they have to use a lead pipe to pull it off. Sure, a lot of poor people are suffering, but as far as a blood-gargling psychopath like Thiel is concerned, the poors are used to suffering, and it's no better than they deserve. But if this might affect Thiel or his bottom line, then it's time for the lawyers, guns and money.

(92,304 posts)having second thoughts? Same thing with Caitlyn Jenner.
Where were these celebrities when people were being threatened on losing their health insurance, or trump's views on the environment, or attacks on civil rights, women's rights, etc.
I guess empathy doesn't apply to others, only to their "selfish" interests

(8,909 posts)Netflix CEO Reed Hastings, who sits on Facebook's board of directors, wrote an email to fellow board member Peter Thiel castigating him for his "catastrophically bad" judgment in supporting Donald Trump for president, according to a report in the New York Times.
Hastings chairs the Facebook board's Compensation and Governance Committee, which is responsible for evaluating board members. Last August, ahead of a meeting of that committee, Hastings reportedly emailed Thiel to warn him that his speech supporting Trump at the Republican National Convention was reason to question his suitability on the board.
"Some diversity in views is healthy, but catastrophically bad judgment (in my view) is not what anyone wants in a fellow board member," Hastings wrote.
Both men are still on Facebook's board. Neither Netflix nor Facebook immediately responded to requests for comment.
