'Hamilton' actor who played Washington rips Trump Confederate statues comment
Christopher Jackson, the actor who played George Washington in the original production of the musical "Hamilton," blasted President Trump on Tuesday after he suggested that removing Confederate statues would lead to statues of the founding father to be pulled down.
"You know NOTHING about #GeorgeWashington Nothing about #America You are in over your head, you Feckless Charlatan. We Stand Against YOU," Jackson tweeted.
Trump appeared to defend white nationalist and neo-Nazi groups protesting the removal of a statue of Confederate Gen. Robert E. Lee in Charlottesville, Va. over the weekend.
"George Washington was a slave owner. Was George Washington a slave owner? So, will George Washington now lose his status?" Trump said Tuesday. "Are we going to take down...statues to George Washington?"
