SHRED
(28,136 posts)1. They need lose anyway
MineralMan
(146,317 posts)2. Yes, of course, but they also need to understand.
The Velveteen Ocelot
(115,732 posts)3. They risk losing their seats if they *do* repudiate Trump.
That's why they aren't doing it. Even though his approval ratings nationally are in the mid '30s, in many districts it's still in the '80s. GOP Congressmutants in those districts will not risk losing or alienating those voters, many of whom still believe the sun shines out of Trump's ass.
MineralMan
(146,317 posts)4. Well, as Shred said, they should all lose their seats anyhow.
I just want to hear them repudiate Trump.
Towlie
(5,324 posts)5. The problem is that "all politics is local", as Tweety often says.
Senators and representatives, especially representatives, campaign on local issues. Candidates in red states will probably find it sufficient to simply evade positions on Trump and use the cynical tactic of concentrating on matters that directly concern their selfish voters.
Gothmog
(145,303 posts)6. We need to force GOP congresscritters to take a stand on trump's racism
MineralMan
(146,317 posts)7. Or to own their agreement with it.
If they fail to repudiate Trump, they own Trump's views. Let them consider that.
