(1,097 posts)I noticed to that even as early as Saturday, none of the Republican condemnors would even speak his name. Perhaps because it's so vile or possibly because everyone knows who they're referring to. But, nonetheless, they should say it "YOU, DONALD TRUMP, . . ."

(11,738 posts)This is a vague statement. "Many Republicans"? Okay, not all Republicans but "many". How many is "many" Lindsey? Saying "ALL" or "The vast Majority" was too strong?
And so fucking what, you don't welcome the David Dukes of the world, Just come straight out and say. "WHITE SUPREMACY IS STUPID, EVIL, AND UNACCEPTABLE IN AMERICA" say, "THE REPUBLICAN PARTY WAS WRONG TO EMBRACE FORMER SOUTHERN DEMOCRATS TO KEEP US ELECTORALLY VIABLE" and finally, "WE REJECT ANY WHITE SUPREMACIST, WHITE NATIONALIST, OR ANY BIGOTRY".
Say that and then you are taking a stand.

(6,044 posts)The party of Trump, is not the party of Lincoln, nor was the party of Reagan Lincoln-like.
I thin the Republican Party has been riding the white supremacy wave for decades, quietly nursing bigotry in order to get the votes to stay in power.
Haveing it burst forth in the way it did in VA is embarrassing but I am not sure there is a corresponding change in their world-view on color and culture.
Heard Sen Isaksen of Georgia smoothly obfuscating today on the issue-so embarrassing that he could not make a strong stand.
