Finally got tired of avoiding all the Game of Thrones talk everywhere. I know I heard chatter about the "red wedding" episode three years ago. Had purposely avoided spoilers and the books. Talk about keeping your mind off today's realities.

(16,296 posts)You will get lost in the plotting and scheming in the 7 kingdoms - TWO FUCKIN' YEARS till the next and final series. The withdrawal is killing me.

(7,572 posts).....was Breaking Bad. I decided to watch it because I watched most of "Better Call Saul" and heard that it made more sense if you had see Breaking B. Still puzzled over the supposed "connection" of the holdover characters. Am going to rewatch B.C. Saul.

(6,709 posts)capturing the important points of the characters and flow of the action without losing too much...up until this season. Season 6 passed the books' timeline and since then we have been in the "Cliffs Notes" version: packed with action with no nuance or depth.
Good news is there will still be good reason to read the books--assuming that Martin finishes them.

(56,828 posts)though, book 3 (A Storm of Swords) is the highlight of the series. I think Books 4 and 5 were a little weaker than the previous 3.

(15,805 posts)GOT has so many characters and such complicated plotlines, I could never keep it all together waiting from week to week. Binging is the only way I can keep track of everything, so I bunker down for a weekend and watch one episode after another until the end. Recently finished watching season 6, and I'm looking forward to season 7.

(56,828 posts)than the show - there are three Tyrell sons - Ser Garlan, Ser Loras and Willas. On the show, there is only Loras. Margaery has 3 or 4 cousins/nieces or similar that serve as her handmaids or whatever you call them. On the show, Margaery is just by herself.

(15,805 posts)and I actually used a yellow highlighter, traced genealogy charts, and scribbled cryptic notes to myself in the margins. I think I loaned it out and the books never came back, but I see that Amazon has a 5 book set for Kindle, so I might read the whole thing after the series finale.

(2,404 posts)...my wife and I are considering watching the entire series (we've never seen it) from the start. Is it worth it?
Actually, I watched an episode a week ago. The special effects were pretty impressive.

(53,410 posts)chances are you won't be able to stop. It's a remarkable show in every way.
The magical stuff happens slowly, woven in here and there and can be very dark magic at times.
